Hi guys,
After seeing how easy it is for new members to post pictures on the forums, but yet can't pm people. Is there any way we can make it so that a new member should at least have 25 or 100 post to be able to post a picture on the forums? Don't you think that would stop people from getting on here and posting inappropriate on the site, if they have to post 25 or 100 times to do so?
Just a thought, your thoughts?

I actually really like this idea :D

I just think it would deter a spammer or anyone who has wrong intentions to post anything that we really don't want to see.

No offence Drew. But I think its a shit idea.
Taking away another part of being a newbie on the forum... great. Just what we need.
They can't PM. So they make tons of threads about it.
Plus, if they cant post pics, that means any types of pics. Meaning they cant be apart of any of the "Picture Games" or anything really. And thats just not fair.
We might as well make them join, then wait 30 days before they can post at all. Or have to fill in a quiz on the rules before they can post.

No offense taken. Would it be better if it was like Visitor messages where they have to be approved by a mod before they can show up on the forums?

I guess that would be a little bit better if they did put something like this in. But i still don't like the idea. The mods do a very good job at keeping the pictures clean, ( a little too clean), I dont see why they need even more work put on them. Most pics are reported, and there is at least a mod on, if its bad, they will deal with it (Even if it isnt in their area)

Technically speaking it would not be possible to stop them from posting pictures without their posts being moderated period. So, to go into more detail to be more precise. Their album pictures and comments are moderated from 0-250 posts. Just for their albums. So if we wanted all members let's say from 0-100 to have their posts moderated, would sure be a lot of work. Especially seeing as how a lot of the times there isn't anyone who posts pictures except on occasions where there is a spammer, but is promptly taken care of. I to be honest see no point in this idea. It would be a completely new user group that I find to be completely not necessary when their are plenty of moderators/to come. That can and will handle that line of duty.

You should read the announcement about the return to sectional moderating..

He has read it, he mentioned it in his post.

Every mod is able to moderate pictures in photo albums anyway even if moderating is sectional.

As said before by the other moderators, we can moderate the albums. Moderating all pictures noobs post would be so much work, and we'd have to be able to moderate in other sections for it to be possible since some mods aren't on at the time a picture is posted.
I do, however, like the idea of this. Consider revising.

If you go to TeenHut, you're not allowed to post any links until you reach 25posts. If you can't post links, you can't post pictures in an image code either.

What's the scale of the problem here? How often do we get new members making posts with inappropriate images in them? Is it sufficient to justify making a new rule that requires all posts to be moderated? That seems to be the basic question and the staff members that have replied seem to agree that the amount of work required to moderate all newbie posts far outways the risk from an occasional rogue poster.
If I see a porn link posted, or anything like that, I dont only report the post I pm any senior staff members that are online at the time, or if they are on msn or in chat I will tell them there. I'm sure other people do the same and these things usually get dealt with very quickly.

Used to have can't post links until a certain number of posts, or it would edit your post out (as a noob i was caught by that little trap. I think it was 15 posts?)
Can't remeber why that was removed. Ant?

Yeah, I understand what your talking about, but I think it would just deter anyone from doing it in the first place. knowing that they must have 25 or 50, I myself would be too lazy to post 25 times just to spam a site.
BTW I didn't mean for this to make it harder for mods or on mods to regulate what goes into the site, but make it easier.

Why would we want so many rules? I mean, seriously. Having this place anti new members isn't a good strategy. Nubcakes aren't going around posting porn on the website, and even if they do, there is a report button. It's not that big of a deal.

I don't think it would make it seem Anti-new members, then why is it that they can't send pm's right from the beginning? To prevent weird and perverted people from bothering us, so why not just make it the same way with photos? Same concept.

Though you have made some valid points and brought some good incite,I don't think this is particularly needed. When the spammers hit the site, a senior staff member handles everything. Or the mod for the certain section will be right on it. It also helps that we have staff members all around the world at different times to handle situations as they arise. So I don't think that this case would be needed unless it was a daily basis thing.

Its all good, just thought of it and shared the raw idea. I understand now!

I think it'd be a good idea, but new members HATE having so many damn restrictions it seems now a days. This would more then likely lead to 50+ threads of new members asking "Why can't we post links till ____ posts?" We already have enough asking that. I think it's not really a big problem right now however, so I think nothing should be done about it.

I suppose in theory its an ok idea. But i don't see a need because I haven't personally seen any pictures that were offensive or inappropriate
