Do you agree with them? I do because not having them runs the risk of victims getting further hurt since abusers often repeat their behavior unless they get help.

I am a huge supporter, you beat your spouse, they deserve the chance to freely go get the proper help why they are in jail.

I am strongly AGAINST them. Most mandatory arrest laws say that you must arrest the man, when the man may very well be the one who made the call and is being abused.

I agree with this, the law is sexist in many cases.

What if the law is rewritten to be gender neutral?

I think it would be very difficult to make the law gender neutral tbh.

The law to me is gender neutral. Recently, locally, i've seen an increase in female arrests for DV. Hell, i've even seen both parties take the ride a few times. For the most part it depends on which party has the most physical harm...

Why do you say that?

Until we reach the point where enforcement is gender neutral, I can't support it. Even then, I'm iffy. There are cases where the wife may try and get the husband on a false domestic violence charge in order to make a future divorce proceeding end more in her favor.

In Britain we have a new law the "Equality Bill", this law allows employers to discriminate in favour of ethnic and social minorities, if this law was reversed people would claim the gov't is sexist and racist

I agree with them, especially when the abused may feel frightened of pressing charges themselves, and thus could otherwise be left in the company of the abuser. Assuming the police do not force the accused to leave the premises.

So it's like affirmative action.

And when it leads to the abused being arrested?

And when it leads to the abused being arrested?I am unaware that these laws mandate that all involved in domestic violence are to be arrested?

No, but many require the man be arrested, be he the abuser or the abused.
