Okay, I hate 8th grade, the kids are awful, I am awaiting my transfer to the "gifted classes" this is my first year of public school and to say the least, it's horrid. I was going to go to the IB program, but my psychologist said I should get a GED and go to college. I don't want to toot my own horn, but I am very smart, I get along with my teachers far better then my peers, and my Gov't teacher said it himself "You are functioning on a whole different level then these kids, sometimes I'll make a political joke just because I know you'll get it and no one else will."

Here's my proposal, I could get my GED, leave school and go straight to university, then I can have my doctorate in ichthyology by age 22. I also know the Dean of students at the university,so I could get some strings pulled, I also know the head of the department I'd go into. Does anyone know anything about the legality or logistics of this?

Thanks

LOL, how old are you kid?

Idk how you would do that (all my contacts are in the music industry, not education), but I can tell you a few things..

Assuming you leave college at age 18, you can have a degree by age 21, so 22 is actually a standard target to be hitting.

You seem to be ignorant about several things, I am aiming for a Doctorate which takes about 8 years, not a Batcholor's, 4 years. How would I do it, first do you know what a GED even is? It stands for several different things that all mean the same thing, such as "General Education Diploma". It's a state administered test, which if you pass give you a High School equvalint diploma.

PS: I can see your "contacts are in the music industry", musicicans generally can't write or think, which by your post seem ovbious. Your post is floccinaucinihilipilification.

Under normal circumstances, I would graduate High School, go on to college at 18, and have my Doctorate by 26, I can save myself 4useless tedious years of High School this way.

PPS: Please do not call me kid. I am 14 years old, thus still a child but so are you! So, please, refrain.

"get your GED and go to college" doesn't work, unless you're willing to do community.

You WON'T get accepted into any university at 14 with a GED. GEDs aren't seen as high school diplomas, even though they're supposed to be. No, it's not fair, but there isn't much you can do. Also, you won't have valid SAT/ACT scores, or teacher recommendations from eight grade that will be accepted. SATs taken before 11th grade don't count, really. I'm not 100% sure about ACT but I'd assume the same.
Morehowever, socially you'd be the biggest outcast EVER. You'd be what, 15, with people where freshmen are usually 18 or 19? I Don't care how mature you are, and by posting this showing a level of impatience I don't think you are very mature TBH, you WILL stick out.

Your route is one i've considered, and has recently crossed my mind again as of late (though, i haven't taken the SAT yet - only allowed to take it once acc. to parents), but it won't work. The assumption is that younger aplicants will 'peak' and then fall, not unlike child stars falling out of fame young.

Also, use of the term "floccinaucinihilipilification", which by the way firefox doesn't even think is a word, qualifies as tooting your own horn. (as well as the wrong part of speech methinks - 'tion' is a suffix generally indicating a verb)
General rules of etiquette, don't use terminology your intended audience (I.E. US) isn't going to understand.

Finally, you two, please don't start(or continue, anyway) arguing I don't want to have to use infractions on non-adbots thanks :)

I'm sorry your vocab is too small to understand. That word was part of my vocabulary that I had to memorize during my home schooling. Do you know what antidisestablishmentarianism is?
You are right about SATs though, but for your first 4 years of college, not going to community is an absurd waste of money. The curriculum is the same at Harvard bio 101 and the average community college bio 101. Same teachers too, grad students.

PS: I know it is a verb, floccinaucinihilipilification is a verb, it means the action of dismissing something as valueless of meaningless.

Merged, please don't double post.

You used it as a noun.

No, I do not. It's also unnecessary vocabulary. I'm an engineering student, not a British historian.

Good to know you don't find community college a 'waste' like most people do.

EDIT: I just realized you mentioned you're transferring from home school.
Give it a year, the shift is a shock I know. (Same thing, but transferred in freshman year instead of 8th grade. Hindsight wished I went in 7th)

You misspelled both bachelor's and equivalent in your first paragraph, Mr. "I'm too smart for these grade eight kids".

Musicians generally can't write or think? Have you ever even read lyrics before? A lot of lyrics cover political topics and emotions that I doubt you'd ever be able to understand, considering how robotic/monotonous you sound. http://www.lyricszoo.com/eyedea-abilities/smile/ I dare you to write something more intelligent sounding, while still staying poetic. Also, your use of big words scares no one.

You obviously don't seem to notice the importance of high school. It's not all about the knowledge, it's more about the process it takes to get that knowledge. You would be both socially retarded and unsuccesful in the real world if you tried to skip ALL of high school.

... I'm 18. With freedom of speech. If it offends you, go get your doctorate.

On the other hand, idk where I got degree from, my bad.

To say something that is actually helpful, if I were you I'd go through all the grades/years at school and college before University - it will help you become a better and more mature person.

And believe me when I say, you need it. You may be smart, but you're not very intelligent. I try and help you, make a couple of mistakes (Degree, offending you by calling you a kid), and you get on your high horse, using words a small percentage of people on here have even heard of to try and make yourself look superior to someone else.

Also, don't be hating on musicians. They're some of the most gifted and brilliant human beings on the face of the planet, and you do a disservice to the human race by discrediting them. If you can honestly tell me that people like Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Roger Waters/David Gilmour, Ronnie James Dio, Rush, etc etc (the list is endless) are stupid or illiterate, I would be shocked.

Also, don't be bitchin' about other people's capabilities when you're clearly not perfect yourself:

I would just tough it out, go through with the IB program, then go to college.
