(Not sure if this is the right place please move it if necessary)

Hi I was wondering if any of you guys have a dip in their chest I have had it since I was born but in the last couple of year it has seemed to have gotten bigger. I know there is surgery to get rid of it but i do not know how to go about getting it and also is it possible to got this on the NHS if not how much does it cost. I hate my body because of it, I never go swimming as I just get laughed at and I am never topless unless on my own.

Have you got it? or Have you had it and had the surgery to get rid of it?

Sam my friend Chris had that and they had to do something because it was going to crowd his heart they did several surgeries and they put these band things in each side of his ribs and it eventually moved out... he was worried about it too and people made fun of him when he swam so it was bad when he came to my house to swim if some 1 said something i made them leave!! grr

I don't really know what a dip in the chest is, but I'm assuming instead of being flat, between your nipples caves in inside of laying flat?

I don't think that issue is really that weird, personally. If it's hurting you, or causing you health problems, then yeah, get it corrected. But if it's just something about your body, I think it's pretty normal, or I wouldn't notice it if I saw you. I don't really see why people would make fun of you for it.

Its usually not bad and to fix it is done with surgery and is usually cosmetic except in extreme cases. I had surgery this summer for it and turned out fine. Hope it helps

I believe this is to do with how your bones mature when you're growing?
From what I remember, it's something to do with that bone either buckles inwards or outwards when your bones are growing during puberty. Most buckle outwards so it's not a problem. Those that buckle inwards are noticeable and could possibly cause internal problems like someone else said before me.

I think I've seen this on TV before and that the person on TV was told to wait until he stopped growing before he had something done about it, as it was just aesthetically displeasing rather than a medical risk.
So, unless it's causing you physical discomfort or internal damage, maybe go and see what can be done about it but I'm fairly sure they won't do much until your bones stop growing. Possible I'm wrong though.

I hope this helps you out ^^
