We've grown as a society a lot since the days of the bible, and we're more accepting in this world than we used to be. I have a feeling that if we could write a modern bible, God would tell us that there's nothing wrong with being gay. God doesn't judge you based on your sexuality, he judges you based on what kind of person you are, and your sexuality doesn't make you a bad, or a good, person. It just makes you bisexual.
Peace God

As long as you're not a fundamentalist Christian and a biblical literalist(someone who accepts the bible as 100% true) then you should be able to accept your sexuality. As the person above has said, the times have changed. And thanks to things like modern science, most christians dont agree with everything the bible has to say.

I agree with this EXACTLY.
I, too, am gay and Christian and I have no doubt that God loves everyone regardless of their sexuality. I don't want you to think that whatever comes out of your preacher's mouth is true. Spend time with God and think independently. I love God and I know He loves me. :)

Well look; No wants to believe in religion that makes you be ashamed of yourself. So people find "holes in the fence", and say it's alright. I believe that if there was a perfect essence in the world then it would love everyone as they are.
You can't change your sexuallity, and i believe that you are smart enough not to live ashamed the rest of your life. :P

I'm bi sexual and I used to be Christian. I honestly say to hell with all of the crap in the Bible against gays and bis. If you can't help it, you can't help it. It's not like you did it yourself, "God" made you that way.
Don't feel ashamed to be bi sexual just because your religion teaches against it. You're normal.

You don't have to choose one religion and follow every single thing the religious text says. You can believe whatever the hell you want to. If you want to believe the story the Christians believe in, you can believe that, but you don't have to believe in every single thing listed in the Christian bible. Belief is something that can be 100% personal and original. Who's to say you have a rule book to follow?
If you think your God accepts sexualities other than heterosexuality, then he does. Problem fixed :D

This is a very delicate subject, one which I have looked into a lot, as my sister is lesbian and used to be a Christian, as far as I know. First off, this does not mean you are an outcast. In Christianity, it means a hard burden to bear, but not a condemning one. It is a calling to put Christ first, and sexuality last, which is also what "straights" are called to do. Just as you are called to subdue sexuality, so are we. Sadly most people don't do a good job of this. All I can recommend is keep up a relationship in Christianity, and don't let this estrange you from Him. Hope I helped a bit.
Peace God

Hence the name, I don't believe in god so It doesn't matter if your gay. But I don't you should be "ashamed" of your religion, if you choose to believe that then its your choice. Don't let anyone tell you different

Well the Bible says that being gay is a abomination. He also said anyone can be saved and be transformed into a Christian. So according to the Bible it is wrong, God made Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve but that doesn't you can't be a Christian. Yes it will probably burden you but God said "as long as you forgive other I will forgive you".
True Christians will be ashamed of sins and thing they do that go against the Bible.
About like how I saw some porn yesterday and now I feel awful. I knew it was wrong yet I did it anyway... Not doing it again.

I'm agnostic which fir those who don't know that means I niether confirm nor deny the existance of god but for the religious part of me this is what I believe I believe that I was born this way and that we were created this way and that though it might be a sin to be the way we are I will be forgiven for it and that my other sins will outweigh this one and as long as I am a good person it will be all good

Define a "true" Christian. No really, I'm serious.
Christianity is too varying nowadays. So, apparently, true Christians are ashamed of alternate sexuality but they can choose what other part of the bible they want to believe in or not?
According to the bible, it's alright to have slaves. So why don't you have slaves?
Sorry, I don't mean to turn this into a religious debate... but still. No one should be ashamed at all.
God must hate a lot of his children... a lot of parents can get over their child's sexuality preference and "forgive" them. So why can't this god do that? (according to the god described in the Christian bible)

well i think that the bible needs to be modernised, i mean ehllo, it was written what, almost 2 thousand years ago!!!!!! society was different back then, if we did everything the bible says today, women would still be in the kitchen, medicines would not be as advanced and the church would be sending us all off to re-re-re capture jerusalem, so come on modernise. believe the parts of the bible you want to, you can be a liberal christian, not just a literalist :)

^ Precisely. I was just interested in his term "true Christian." Apparently, the definition is selective? To fit the type of Christianity that has evolved, but does not allow other sexual preferences.

So what? So god doesn't like bisexuals now? Give me a break....don't give in to the Bible word for word. Not everything is meant to be taken so anal. Tbh in my theory God loves everyone, gay/bi/str8 black/white/asian...who cares. Be yourself! I'm sure God wouldn't want you suffering in self denial and would trade your happiness and satisfaction for that :)

I totally agree. I am a Christian, but I believe that the Bible really is rather outdated. A lot of the stuff in there is probably just the result of the culture at the time, not things that are actually part of the faith. I've never really seen why my pansexuality should conflict with what I believe. God is love. There's no verse that says "God is heteronormative, boy-girl-boy-girl love."

Yes, I am Christian as well and have struggled with homosexuality for a long time. For a while I disagreed with it, but I have come to except it as who people are. There are few verses in the Bible that address homosexuality, and, if looked deeper into, can be proven that they don't condemn homosexuality.
Whether or not it is right or wrong, people just need to be happy. There is too much hate in this world to worry about people who are in love, regardless of gender. Just be who you are, and don't let people get you down. I'll be praying for you.

I personally think that it doesn't matter whether you're Christian or Atheist, it all comes down to how you as a person feel about yourself. I'm atheist and curious and I chose to ignore what people may think about my personal choices. In a way, I believe that religion doesn't have hold of you in any way. Everyone is different from each other and that's what makes us unique as humans. I do hope this has helped in some way.

ok, i've thought alot about this, you can stay Christian, i think the 'sin' of being a homosexual, is either the sex before marriage, because only in a few places are homosexuals allowed to get married. and the other 'sin' is lying because we are afraid of being judged. I don't know if I am right or wrong, but this is what i believe. God died for us, but then we hear that because we are different, we have to go to hell...B.S. i know...but don't be ashamed, be happy, many adult Christians lie to themselves, everyone else, and God, because they think they are 'no longer dwelling in the sin of homosexuality'. At least you know who you are, and know what you believe...(i think i posted before, but yea...i've been getting preached at, and this is what i came up with as a defense)

I'm bi and Catholic. I know that somewhere in the Bible it says that marriage should be between a man and a woman, but nothing about we can't be gay and love the same sex. Besides if God didn't want gays, he wouldn't make any of us that way. He would have us all straight. And if the Catholic Church wants to disown me, let em. As long as I'm happy they shouldn't care. I mean like we only have to pay to be considered part of the Catholic Community, so why should they tell us we have to be straight?

sam, i know how u r feeling. i've been there my self. my family and i are roman catholic and i am gay. you cant feel guilty for who you are. there is nothing to feel guilty about. we have this notion that being gay is wrong, and that idea is wrong. i was in catholic high school up until the middle of my 10 grade. you can just imagine how that went. the kids were fine, it was the loving, caring, "religious" adults that coundn't come to grips with it. we are a different generation. being gay isnt thought of as it was 10 or 15 years ago. just relax and know its all good.
be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Not quite how i'd have phrased it, but ^this^.
If your religion is important to you, and you can't be accepted for who you are then I also go with those saying "find a new religion" (or place of worship or whatever).
You can't change your sexuality, so if you dont change what you can it seems to me you'll fall out with people and/or get screwed up.

Of the 21,314 verses in the bible, only 2 speak of homosexuality. Those are stated, In the book of Leviticus.
"If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall be put to death; their blood is upon them." Leviticus 20:13
"You shall not lie with a male, as with a women; It is an abomination." Leviticus 18:22
Well most of the laws in Leviticus, are ignored everyday!!! "Thou Shall not eat pork" Thou shall not eat shellfish." "Though shall not wear clothes of mixed fibers."
Forgive me if I am wrong, but I'm pretty sure the pastor is wearing a tuxedo of cotton and polyester.

I used to have no problem being a Christian until my first wet dream was about guy sex. Since then I have tried to be straight or at least bi to be acceptable to my really religious family. When my girlfriend wanted to be mine, I had to admit along the way to my really gay side. However, we have worked things out for now. Everyone now thinks I am straight except her. I go to church and play music there.....but now it is a lie for me. I crave guys still enjoy my girlfriend pretty much and really hate being a hypocrite at church. Around here Christian equals straight. I am truly prefer guys. So I will quit church and come out. Solved?

If you truly believe in God then there is nothing to fear. He loves everyone. Don't let people bring you down when they site Leviticus to you because in the very smae bible, god strike down a man for spilling his seed on the floor. the reason why the act of homosexuality was looked down up is because it yields no children, like pulling out.
