Hey guys, Do I have thought about why is the drinking age for the US 21? Just don't get it, why is it not 18? If you had the power to change it, would you? If you did, would you make it under 21 or stricter then what it is now? I would like to hear what your thoughts about it.

Personally, I think it's fine right where it is.

I think alcohol should be made an illegal drug, but since that wont happen, i think it's perfectly fine at 21...

Agree completely. Having an alcoholic father has really opened my eyes to how destructive this drug is. That's why I don't drink.

I second this. I don't think it would do us any good to lower it. And this is coming from an 18 yr old who could technically drink if for some reason it was lowered. But I wouldn't want to; I don't drink.

Yeah, because that (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prohibition) worked so well, didn't it?
It wouldn't be bad thing to lower the age to eighteen, but I don't really see a need to. Though, if you are old enough to die for your country, you should be old enough to drink.

Yeah, See I think we should lower the drinking age. I don't see the argument that it should be illegal. At 18 you are an adult and should be allowed to drink. I know on International waters you can drink at 18. I also think it would lower that amount of college students that get arrested for underaged drinking. As most College students are over the age of 18

It's fine where it is. I wouldn't mind a change to 18, but it's not necessary.

Yes, I see 18 as the perfect age for drinking, wish the US saw it the same way I do. :(

I'm in the UK and I think 18 is the best age for drinking.
Your not too old and not too young meaning youve got some life experience but have time to experiment with alcohol as well.
I'm always amazed that its so high in America and from my view Im sure that many many teenagers drink in a responsible manner (and irresponsible manner) when they are 17/18 in the USA.

Yes, I agree with you Patchy! Perfect age! Wish is was the same in the US. You are correct about us teens over here, Most do drink at the 17/18 and most are responsible about it, but there are those who aren't.
I just like to watch those who don't go shit faced; its a funny thing to witness.

I hope my 17 year old brother never drinks. anyways, I doubt he would. he absolutely hates alcohol.
also, the poll should be about the drinking age, not how old you are...

Well I want to know how old people are when they are saying this. At a young age, of course the idea of drinking is suppose to be a discusting thing because that is what our parents have bashed into our heads.
I myself don't drink everyday or every-time I go to a party due to the fact that I drive, so Im not going to drink then drive.
I think age is relevant to this post.

Well I think that its a good age limit how it is now, but I do think that there should be exceptions. My moms always said that if you serve your country (being a soldier) you should be able to have a beer. Seems like a preety good idea to me, but thats just my opinion lol ^_^.

I hate exceptions though... because if there is an exception here, there one there, and there, and there and here and there again.

Why? Considering how well it went last time, illegalizing it is the last thing you should want.
I believe the drinking age should be eliminated. By putting an age limit, it makes it more desirable. Countries without a drinking a drinking age typically have lower rates of alcoholism. Making something forbidden makes it more enticing.

In my opinion, I think that no matter what age they make it, you will always have people breaking the rules.

I think that the alcohol limit is great right where it is! I think that it is dumb to drink under that age and I think it is an unhealthy drug and I don't understand why people like it.
