I have to transpose a song for my voice teacher, but instead of doing it by hand (because I messed up) she suggested that I downloaded the demo version of Finale Notepad and use that. Now, I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but in the original music there is a bar with six eighth notes and underneath a dotted quarter note and a dotted quarter rest (the song is in six eight time).

(sorry for the crappy quality, I had to scan it.)
Now, when I go to put this into the program, it'll let me either put the six eighth notes or the dotted quarter note and rest, not both. If I try to put one in over the other, it'll change the notes. Does anyone know how to fix this? or to avoid it? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Paid version.. Its only like $20 USD, the free version is shitty at configuring timing. I havent used it since 7th grade though (currently in 10th)

Good luck :)

Just going to say that the paid version had the same problem :\.
If anyone has any more suggestions that would be wonderful :)

Hmmm. Thats gay. You sure you have it on 6/8 and not 4/4?

I use a different program (Capella) for music scoring. In Capella terms you are trying to have two voices on one stave, I guess Finale has the same feature. Have you set up your stave for two voices?
