I'm wondering how to escape the everlasting grips of rhyme?

I'm trying to not force myself to rhyme as much, in my songs. Any tips?

Start with just writing the stream of thoughts you have. During a writing process, you might be prone to rhyme because it can usually be more pleasing to the ears. But if you just write what you're thinking, then modifying it, without having the tune set at first, it might help. I don't know how you go about songwriting though. Other than that, I don't really know. My songs and poems start out free form usually and then I format them or break out a thesaurus if I wish to rhyme.
