Hi, i self harmed for the first time yesterday, i felt so helpless, didnt know what to do so i started scracthing my arms as hard as i could. It was a result of emotional pain, boyfriend problems. I felt so frustrated. I dont want this to happen again. Has/is anyone else gone through the same thing? :/

Please don't do it again though. It is so much easier to quit when you first start. You'll find yourself continuing years into the future, the scratches escalating to cuts, getting worse and worse. It's addicting and you won't be able to stop just like that. It takes determination. My advice is to back out while you still can. Boyfriends are no reason to hurt yourself :(
I'm always open to talk if you need to. I've been struggling with self-harm for five and a half years myself.

Boyfriend problems? No, I'm not currently going throguh that. but self harm? Yes, I've been going through that for nearly three years next month. Please, stop now. Self harm can become an addiction very, very quickly. Everyone on this forum will be able to tell you that. I wish I stopped when I had the chance, but I didn't and I've been struggling with it ever since. If you stop now there's a good chance that you won't become addicted. And trust me, you don't want to go down that road.
You are in no way alone with this. Me, and everyone else on this forum understands what you're going through, and we're all here to help. There are so many people that self harm, so don't feel alone.
Remember that you don't need to hurt yourself, there are so many other alternatives. Have you spoken to anyone about the way you feel? Talking helps.
If you need someone to talk to, I'm always here, you can PM me anytime. :hug3:

You've reached out for help more or less straight away, which is probably the best thing you could of done. Self harm can become very addictive, just like Syvelocin and georgiamay have said. I've found talking about it is the best way to deal with it.
The next time you feel like doing it try your hardest to resist. If you can't then at least come online and try talking to someone on here? Everyone here wants to help you :)
I only come on here like twice a day to check the forum, if you want i can give you my email address if you feel like you need someone to talk to. I've self harmed for a lot of different reasons, so chances are i will be able to relate to what your feeling.

As everyone has said, it's addicting. You may not realise this, you may thing it's not possible but believe me it is. It's so much easier to stop now, believe us. If you continue, it will get to a point where your not in control, where you can survive without your fix of blood and pain. I suggest you read the "first time cutting thread". It has alot of useful information.

Good your on the site but its better to avoid self harm its not a good thing to do. Find something else to take your anger out on rather than SH.

As everyone else has said, stop now before it comes an adiction
I've been doing it now for just over 3 years on and off, its a really hard thing to stop once you loose control of it
Have you got anyone to talk to about how your feeling?, it really helps having someone to there to help you
