Hurricane Warning by Airiel Down. The siren and then the intro is epic.
It's a Raleigh song written for the Carolina Hurricanes.
I highly recommend people look into it.

"Let It Rock" by Bon Jovi
"Lay Your Hands On Me" by Bon Jovi
"Justice In The Barrel" by Jon Bon Jovi
"Mr. Crowley" by Ozzy Osbourne
And of course
"Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley. Why? Because during the intro to that song is when you first realize "Holy shit I just got rickrolled".

It's not my favorite, but her saying that Killswitch Engaged's is good, when she probably doesn't even know who Dio was irritates me. I like the song, don't get me wrong, but there are better intros. :P

I never said it was bad, but you should read up on songs a band does. It was a cover. A good cover.

The introduction to the album "The Incident" by Porcupine Tree which is a song split into fourteen parts. I guess you could call it the album intro. It's simple, but I think that's what makes it so fucking intense. Then after that it goes straight into fucking chaos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5WNTxkiIaM).

Experimental? Meshuggah isn't that out there. Avant Garde Metal artists like Sleepytime Gorilla Museum (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksutNW3HFT8), Kayo Dot (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-BaDagmtcA), and Unexpect (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbSUEbG3OVE) are the real examples of extreme experimental metal. I suggest you check all three of those out though if you're into bands that like to search for their own sound.
Now back to the thread. I don't know why I didn't think of this before, but -

"Suicide Solution" by Ozzy Osbourne
Look I'm a huge Ozzy fan too, but... Suicide Solution? REALLY? The intro is nothing but a few chords and it's like 10 seconds long... It's barely even an intro to begin with. Mr. Crowley off that SAME album has an intro 1000 times better.

Echoes - Pink Floyd
As much as I like the song, how is the introduction to this song that good? It's the ending (last six minutes) that really stick out to me. The song progresses into this just perfect ending for a song, but the introduction really isn't that remarkable. Progressive music doesn't really focus much on the introductions of the songs, which I've noticed, but more towards building the climax of a song and the climax itself.

The introduction may be simple, yes, but that's what makes it remarkable. You start off with an incredibly plain introduction — a repeated note on a piano — that builds up into one of the most epic climaxes in the history of music. It also helps establish the mood of the song from the very beginning (emptiness, space, the ocean, ect.). Same with "Sheep", which starts off with a peaceful keyboard solo set to the noises of grazing farm animals. It creates an environment from which the rest of the song can build off of; if the intro is strong the rest of the song will be.

FUCKING RAGE. I fucking hate eye of the tiger. Worst song and most annoying fucking song I've ever fucking heard. This school I went to in middle school played that song before and after school every time the bell went off and it was the most annoying thing in all of this fucking world.
