ok.
this question is for the people on the forum that support immediate (or near immediate withdrawal) from Iraq.
lets say that...
-For w/e reason (not important why) we leave Iraq
-Six month pass by with things the same way they are now
-Another six months pass and we have all of our troops out
-Then Iraq breaks into a full scale civil war
-One side (not important which) takes over and begins to ethnically cleanse the other faction. (think Rwanda but 2 million this time)
Would you be for or against going in to try and stop the killing?

I am temped to say **** it, its not our problem but I just couldn't have a clean consience knowing WE caused it and don't do anything.
If some liberal did get in office and pulled out I would be protesting to go back in if the killings started. Hell if I was old enough I would sign up for the millitary.

Will find more later.
I am quite sure we are considering millitary intervention if things don't clear up.
And to answer your question because Iraq would be sudan X a thousand.

So, if we bolster the Iraqi governments own defenses, their own police, their own military, etc, they will either
A) Lose terribly, leaving terrorists in complete control, a situation which would lead to mass genocide
B) they dont lose, but....they cause mass genocide?

No offense but seriously.
Please don't throw your liberal one sided questions at me.
More like
A) They take control of their own country and it remains free from terrorists, better lifes for everyone.
or
B) They are not going to commit genocide because they ARE THE PEOPLE you seem to forget this is a DEMOCRACY.
Besides they try shit we will take them out...............again.

If the US doesn't care about the Genocide in Sudan that's happening right now then why should Iraq be any different?
i didn't say anything about what were doing now, I'm talking about if this happened in the future.
-please respond to the question instead of citing something else.
------------------------------------------------------
--IMO we should intervene in Sudan
-This isn't completely a Bush administration thing, as Rwanda wasn't completely a Clinton administration thing.
-Most of all, it is a U.N. thing
-----they claim that they are looking out for the world but they rarely take action that requires large amounts of action or risk on their part. (Rwanda, Sudan....)
The main thing that is holding off action in Sudan in the UN.
-So you ask, why not circumvent the UN and help the people anyways? well, even when the UN decides that Saddam needs to disarm, its still wrong to disarm him cuz they don't want to....

The U.S. wouldn't be responsible because it was never our responsibility to go over there in the first place. Can you even imagine the good we could've done had we spent the billions of dollars helping people in Africa by giving them food, better housing, and medicine rather than going to Iraq and killing people?

Since you seem to dismiss anything conservatives say maybe you should see what your allways right liberal leaders are saying.
