What kind of questions could I ask girls to keep them talking and not make it awkward.

then if you have any in common, discuss, analyse why you like it, ask why she likes it etc...
even better, if you just had a test for said subject, ask how did she go, was it easy hard etc. b4 discussing why u like said subject and so on...
when you ask what subjects she likes, you're almost definately guarnteed a good conversation because it will be tailored specifically to her, and she will be interested.
don't ask yes or no questions, ask 'extended response' questions, while seeking a positive response, for example...so what do you find interesting about biology? as opposed to 'do you find biology boring?'

or go with the flow whatever floats your boat.

People love to talk about themselves, so like Rex said, ask her all about herself.
Also, try to keep the humour up, but without ridiculing her or anything like that.
It's not as hard as it sounds but sometimes it is easier said than done, if you're shy.
Just go with the flow, as long as you don't end up offending her, it can't go very wrong.

Start off with small talk, then from there you can get into deeper conversations. It'd be kind of creepy if you just started talking to her all of the sudden.

Depends. It can also be spontaneous, and some chicks are into that. But if you're even asking how to talk to girls, don't try the spontaneous thin. You need some experience for that.

Well im kinda shy myself so it's hard to talk to guys as well, if you know the girl it's always nice to ask how she is or what's up with her or what some of her interests are. It's a great way to clear the ice and get to know each other as well.
