A suicide bombing occurred in Istanbul's central Taksim square on Sunday morning, wounding 22 people, Istanbul governor said.
The explosion occured on 0900 hours.
Istanbul Governor Avni Mutlu said that 12 civilians and 10 policemen were injured.
Istanbul Police Chief Huseyin Capkin told reporters said that two of the injured were in critical condition.
The explosion was set off by a male suicide bomber, Çapkın added.
Many ambulances have been dispatched to the area and the square has been closed off to press and the public.
A comprehensive investigation is underway, and local media reported that the explosion may targeted anti-riot police.
The Taksim square is a main tourist attraction and transport hub in Istanbul, surrounded by many restaurants and shops.
Today, October 31st is also the day when PKK ( Kurdish Terrorist Group ) would end their ceasefire act against the Turkish Armed Forces.
