In the past I never really gave much thought to GameSpot, or it's reviews, but recently I've been using it quite a bit. However I'm beginning to question the trustworthiness of GameSpot's reviews. For instance all of these titles (except MW2, which is overrated) are underrated by the GameSpot review team (not taking into account critic or user reviews), Resident Evil 3: Nemesis received a 4.7 (link (http://bit.ly/aZKyWn)), Alpha Protocol received a 6.0 (link (http://bit.ly/a7OXCS)), Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for PC received an overrated 8.5 (link (http://bit.ly/g7DpG)), whereas Medal of Honor only received a 7.5 (link (http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/medalofhonor/index.html)), Resident Evil: Director's Cut received a 6.9 (link (http://www.gamespot.com/ps/adventure/residentevildirectorscut/index.html)), and countless other reviews that I would argue are fundamentally wrong. So what is your opinion on GameSpot's reviews? Are they usually good? Or are they wrong too often to be fully trustworthy?

I used to make game reviews. Reviewers are scrutinizers; but their reviews about the game is sane enough, so I don't think these games are underrated. Some game reviews are erratic, some will rate it high with enough reasons to have it that much score and vice versa.
Plus, I think most of gamespot people are idiots. I take a look on other sites to make a clear-cut conclusion about the games.

reviewers are biased just like the rest of us, the difference is that they are paid to do it

I was so pissed off when I saw the game review for Empire: Total WAr on a turkish gaming magazine.
In campaign tactics section, it says :
"If you play as Great Britain, first of all you must conquer France as soon as possible. Then, you may want to conquer Spain. Have good relations with United Provinces but then attack them, they don't have a good economy anyway. Before moving forward into Europe, you may want to conquer American tribes. Then ,you can start trading."
How it should have been :
"Since GB is an island nation, you must have a supreme naval force in order to trade from the very begginig. Trading by Indiamanships and trading via land is essential for GB's economy. As long as you want it, France wont declare war on you. Even if it does, your navy will take care of them. Always defend the United Provinces as they are one of the strongest nations in terms of economy. Focus on holding your ground on America, and ally with Native tribes if possible in the early game. Before you start your invasion of France, you should have a stable economy based on trading."

Their a team so its gonna be an agreement between them
you might not agree with them as a whole but youll probalby agree with certain members in the team who gave it that rating
Also i dont trust the internet for game reviews
friends, and previous games by the developers are always the best
take bungie, no one needed a review of halo reach to want it so badly, they were sold out on the midnight releases
and your firend tells you a game is amazing because he decided to buy it
then youll buy it too cos it means youll have someone to play it with
you can trust them really
just theres better things than just that to base your conclusion on before buying

Probably more reliable than IGN's bullshit reviews.

IGN gives a 9.4 score for Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (http://psx.ign.com/articles/161/161482p1.html). Totally, biased. So, I have to agree with you on this.

IGN downrated both Rock Band 3 and Bad Company 2, among other games.

Totally, they gave Rock Band 3 a fucking 8.5 in one of the worst-written reviews I've ever read. It's total bullshit over there. GameSpot is my one-stop site for gaming reviews, I trust them to give a professional review of games, and they always deliver.

You might wanna correct your grammar there :P
I trusted IGN for a while, mostly because they had more reviews overall than GameSpot, however, after reading so many bad reviews I just don't go there anymore.

Fix'd.
I still look at IGN's reviews, but they're usually bad.

Rock Band 3 was the last straw for me. It amazes me that they consider it worse than the previous Rock Bands. I don't even consider their reviews anymore.

I loved how the dumbass who reviewed insulted pro mode and then praised it.

Does anybody have an idea? Why do they under or overrate the games? Or dont make a proper walkthroughs etc.

I know. He suggested we stop living our fantasies through plastic instruments — isn't that the entire basis for music video games in the first place? Pro mode is supposed to help teach you real guitar. I don't see why he thinks that's a bad thing, and he failed to mention the Fender Squire Strat that's both a real, functioning electric guitar AND a controller for Pro Mode.

Of course Gamestop's reviews are untrustworthy since those people are going to be as biased as we are. Is it me, or is the less like CoD a game is, the less its reviewers rate it?
