I didnt know it was that scary, everyone I know said it sucked.
How about you, I dont know, think about something else whenever you start being freaked?
Thats what I do whenever I start to be freaked.
Why dont you sleep with a light on?

The exact same thing happened to me.
The night after I watched it, I think I started hallucinating (felt really real though) about noises in my house. I didn't 'sleep' - more passed out at 6am due to exhaustion.
The next night, I forced myself to sleep. I left music on, left the light on and everything.
Thinking about it I've not fully recovered (it sounds pathetic) but it's like I don't just think about THAT film when I'm scared, I think about everything that has ever scared me in my life all at the time same.
For me, it's also the fact that you can't see it :/ in films where you can clearly see the scare maker (unless they're genuinely creepy looking) it's not as scary.
Anyway, I think I'm about over it now, because I make the scenes I see in my head into humour/think about something totally non relevant, like a cute rabbit or a fence or something...
Hope you get to sleep soon! :/

With regards to the paranormal activity stuff try reminding yourself that it isn't real. That it is all made up and scripted. If that doesn't work then think of one thing, perhaps a line out of a song or a poem or even a random collection of words perhaps even a person - just something. And say those words or that persons name etc over and over and over again until everything else is cleared from your mind.
As for the bit at the end of your post; feel free to pm me if you want to talk about it because it might be a tad personal to discuss it straight over the forum.
Hope that helps =]

Stuff like it does happen supposidly. Paranormal Activity got ideas from real life experiences.

I've not seen this film but i can get really paranoid about stuff at night and always have done. For me it's slightly different cause it's real stuff like people breaking in and fires etc but basically you just gotta think of all the nights you've lived through so far, and how nothing has ever happened, so why would it happen that night? And of everyone in the world, why would it happen to you?
Hope this helps :)

You're not pathetic, not in the least.
Feeling scared of everything that goes bump in the night is a common reaction for most people after watching a scary movie.
It's just a natural reaction. It should wear off soon.

I get it, few years ago i watched the ring, i couldn't sleep the whole night, and for a year i couldn't close my eyes in the shower, and was afraid watching back (maybe it sounds funny but it's just terrifying) and it just partially passes few monthes ago. it's scary, but eases with the time, there is nothing to be ashamed off.

So they said for the Blair Witch Project and other movies of the same vein :L
Whilst there might the paranormal I think they would have much better things to do than do stuff for a movie or two? :L

Well, personally the movie didn't scare me one bit, however, there really isn't much you CAN do.
Get a night light maybe?
I mean, it seems like the only way to fix it is to go back in time and stop yourself from watching it, but you can't do that.
I guess you will have to wait until you grow out of it, which you eventually will.
Just remember, IT'S FAKE. Made up. There is nothing in your house. Nothing in your life has changed after watching that movie.
It's the exact same as it was the minute before you stepped into that theater, so don't fret. It's all in your mind.

You'll laugh at me I watched the deer hunter and was convinced someone was gona shoot me with a rifle. i'm not sure why certain movies creep us out, but i think its the mark of a good film.
