Since 100+ dollars seems a lot, is it possible to bring back flash chat? I know it was flawed, but its better then no chat.

It crashes the site/server so i don't think it's the best idea.

I wouldn't mind using Flash Chat but the reason why I had to get rid of it in the first place was that when people started using it, the chat would lag horribly and it would make the forums slow as well (10 seconds to load a page). It is not meant for busy sites... that's why its only 5 dollars.

Well, I haven't been here long, but it seems the chat feature is pretty much doomed. Either it costs a ton of money, or it lags the hell out of the website. And I don't think the owners of the site want either of those problems. Personally, I wouldn't expect chat to come back for a while.

I still think there should be a donation fund to bring back the regular chat, but apparently they only want Stephens money... which is really lame.

Because people dont just go there and chat with each other. You can hardly see two members chatting there. People just write whatever they want there, just like the Official Send A Message Thread in TWPR

I've had many conversations in the chat rooms... and it is nothing like the send a message thread. I think it brings the VT community together loads and lets people get to know each other. I think it is definatley something we should try and get back if possible.

yeah, let allow cammers to just attack vunerable new members, and cause a million and one more threads about why it's back in place when we get chat back.
that rule is there for a vital reason.
it's not there to be an ass, its there for your own safety.
that rule, is never going anywhere.
thats why we have VM's, as others have said.

No. It is not needless. I've had the best times in chat, the first person I met here was over chat, and most of my friends here, I met in chat. It brung people together, and w/o VT just wont be the same

I agree that its where a lot of friendships get made, but its been said before that this isnt a social networking site. So while, like most other regular members, I would miss chat if it didnt come back it doesnt stop people being able to post their help and advice questions and get their answers.

Wrong.
The chat room is vital for user to user interaction. I know this isn't a social newtorking website, but it's the reason lot's of people come here. Without a chat room, I can see VT losing some traffic.
Key members, and people who love the site will of course stay, but people who come mainly for chat will walk away. Not only that, but it's fun...

Thus, VT needs a chatroom.

Is there a free/cheap chatroom that WON'T crash us? I can't find anything..

As Ryan said, it is vital. Just because this is primarily a help and advice site doesn't mean members shouldn't come together to have fun aswell to help each other.

I have made a few friends in chat. I think it's a big part of VT, especially bringing people together. It's not just a pointless thing to have on a website like this.
