Ohhhhhhkaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy

1. My family makes too much money for need-based financial aid.
PROBLEM: I canNOT bet on them paying my ride.
I can only get merit based

which lends itself to

2. do i have the grades?
I'm an A/B student with poor english and public speaking skills.
I'm in the very tail end of the top 10% of my graduating class
And i have "meh" standardized test scores; as far as NMSQT monies go, i don't think I'll get it.

3. This one is probably my own personal "jaded" due to living in such a religious town.
Does "appreciates diversity" really mean it?

and.. english class for now.
what the hell am i supposed to do for freewrites
the topics i can think about to write on will get CPS fucking called.
I don't know how to BS happy shit.

Yse I'm a junior YES i'm conserned about this already.

And yes I'm going to take both SAT and ACT.

Research, research, research. There are many, many universities in the US, and many will potentially give merit-based aid. The more you explore, the more options you can potentially find.

I don't know, the information is rather vague. Numbers? If you're not comfortable with that let's talk sometime.

3. This one is probably my own personal "jaded" due to living in such a religious town.

Yes, it often does.

Good, junior year is not really too early. I formulated a preliminary list and started visiting by spring of junior year. Take the standardized tests as soon as you can, better to at least gauge how you'll do sooner than later.

Well, just focus on continuing to do as well as possible, and take some of the real tests soon if possible, it's the best way to know where you stand. I took 3, one at the end of my sophomore year, one in january of junior year, and one in october of senior year.

You should get some, assuming you do fairly well on the SATs

Really, it depends on the place but often it does.

Yeah, I guess.
-.- I need to take it easier my senior year tho, some classes to just bump my GPA up a bit
i only get each standardized test once though.

Define "fairly well"
perfect test?

Go online and look up some writing prompt generators. They can be great jumping off places, not to mention, some of those ideas give you a nice little quirk as opposed to some of the things I'm sure most people expect to read. One prompt I used asked me if I would eat a bowl of dead bugs, and I turned the whole essay into something about leadership and determination.

No. You want to do the opposite. Many of your applications will be in before you get any grades. Harder classes show you're not gonna develop senioritius.

Not perfect tests. I'd shoot for 1300-1400+ though. If you need help, I can help you practice.

Thinking about me?

that's great actually

Puppy, i get 2 open periods my senior year, they hve to be filled with something :P
(one's a pe/health not for seniors, one's an 'i'm running out of engineering electives')

1.3-1.4k/2.4k?
That's less than 75% as far as persenagse go, i know that's now how they're graded but yeah.

Thinking about me?
Oh true.
however that one goes into 'revealing personal life to a teacher who already hates me and will use it against me in 'jokes' to the class'

Toughest classes offered.

Out of 1.6k. Sorry. Being ancient again.

Start there and run with it. Think about something we talked about. Go from there.

Toughest classes offered.
Example being AP sociology vs. regular?(even though I have no intentions of taking the test for that one)

:P Love you. And you're not ancient
Still seems rather low?

Exactly. AP everything. Also, always take the test. It doesn't hurt, and can save you having to take the class in college.

That's what I'd say the minimum is. Higher is better.

And I am too ancient.

I'd already be taking 2 ap tests that year (calc ab and gov).
Maybe if they aren't too close together date-wise.

Don't see why I'd need sociology, unless I go into market research (which is a possibility)

Leaves a hell of a lot of room for improvement though. Basically that says I could bomb critical reading[which I probably will...] and still get in.

Core requirement.

You won't. I'd say aim for a minimum of 650 each.
