I was extremely disappointed when my friend's father, who I think was the best candidate by far, dropped out (Rossi). On the other hand, his campaign was poorly run and his image badly tailored to the sentiment this election cycle. Ford, slavering buffoon though he is, capitalized well on what people seemed to be looking for. I don't like that Ford won at all... but between him and Smitherman, who to choose? Smitherman's presiding over the eHealth mess was disgusting, and while I think Ford is a bit of an idiot, truth be told if he can reduce some of the ridiculous spending in Toronto I'll overlook his stupidity and rough edges. That's a very big if, though, and I don't put much confidence in it being the outcome.
