Why are guys more comfortable talking about masturbation than girls? Is it because of the ways we'd been raised? Or what?

Are you sure that's true? Maybe girls talk about masturbation with other girls as much as boys talk about masturbation with other boys?

Im sure guys and girls both talk about masturbation, im not sure about girls, me being a guy. but i would say that boys are very open when it comes to talkin about sex, masturbation and all that stuff.

i'm a girl and come to think of it, i dont really talk about masturbation, ever, with anyone.
i dont really know if there's a reason for that though?
i would definitely say that there is a difference between girls and guys here though, because if you think about it, it's more socially excepted to talk about it.
In UK you even have insults such as 'wanker' which can be traced back specifically to male masturbation - which shows a more open feel about it.
with girls its different - it's much more closed off and 'secretive'. i dont really see why though, most likely comes from traditional values and has been brought up through the generations.

I think that most girls see it as wrong to talk about it, and that's why not many do actually talk about it. I know that i wouldn't talk to anyone about it because to me it's something private, so that's possible the same for others. I also think that sometimes tradtional values like Fact said affect the way some people view it. Boys are sometimes more comfortable talking about it as other boys talk to each other - and if girls don't talk about it, then they won't actually talk about it like boys do. It all depends on personal preference to be totally honest.

I honestly have issues with finding irl people to discuss it with, everyone around here is pretty closed minded and to themselves. So to me, guys being more comfortable than girls is pretty stereotypical..

Yeah T, me too :(
My friend, today, met a girl in 5 seconds, at the end of the day he got her phone wtf.
It would take a lifetime for me to get a girl'S phone.
And "talk about masturbation" ???
What the hell you could talk about masturbation ? " Whcih hand do you use? Do you use a lube? What do you watch when masturbating ? "
These questions? Cos they are waaaaaay borring.
Since all boys watch porn and "know everything" they can easily talk. I am not saying the girls don't know anything, but simply since all boys watch porn and they can talk about it, they wouldnt see masturbation talk as no problem, though girls don't talk about porn so they wouldnt also talk about masturbation.
And being " a girl " has certain private things, but it is in the nature, neither girls nor oys know why girls are so secretive about sexual stuff :P

But "wanker" is an insult, implying that guys that masturbate are some how inferior so surely the expected result on that would be that guys would continue to masturbate but be secretive about it.
Of course it is also hypocritical when used by another guy unless the guy using the insult doesn't masturbate himself which would be very rare.

What I was getting at, was that people OPENLY use this word.
And I don't think wanker implies that at all. Same as the insult 'dickhead' doesn't refer to people who have dicks on their head - it means idiot.
