Is there a way to put those songs AND their play count onto computer B? If there is, how do you do that?

Sorry, I'm a technology nub.

Yeah same here. There are programs that can do it, but there are no free ones as of yet. I did a google search (http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=transfer+music+from+ipod+to+another+computer+or+ipod&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=), but i didnt find any good answers. I know to use your ipod on another computer you need to authorise the computer, but otherwise im not sure on how to switch the songs on the ipod back to the computer WITH the play count

This is what I use. (http://www.copytrans.net/download.php) The only bad thing is with the trial, you only get two hundred transfers. But, I like the program, and if I had the money, I'd buy it for sure.

There's a program called Sharepod that is both free and open source that once it is put on your iPod lets you transfer anything that's on your iPod to your computer, which means any computer you want. It can be found here: http://www.getsharepod.com/
