Should sexual education in North America feature more info about homosexual sex/homosexuality in general?

I think so, yes. Whatever your sexuality you have a right to know about maintaining a healthy sex life.

Certainly. My sex ed lessons (not that I had much) did not mention any thing related to homosexuality. A lack of teachings about homosexuality might make some homosexual people feel more isolated, because all the lessons are about straight sex...I don't know if any gay people would agree with me.

We never get told anything about homosexuality in our sex ed classes. As well as possibly isolating gay people and not informing them about the dangers of unsafe sex it is also making them more open to attacks by homophobes etc as they are not being taught about gay people. It is this lack of teaching overall that can be attributed to quite a lot of hate directed towards the gay community; purely because they aren't understood as well as they could be.

When I was in middle school and we had sex ed, there were three thing we were not allowed to talk about. Abortion, masturbation, and homosexuality. It didn't make any since why we weren't. I think all three of those should be explained.

Uh, could you rephrase that?

^This. Why cater to only heterosexuals, if i have to sit in the damn class, i deserve to know things that will help me.

Its fucked up that they arent allowed to discuss homosexuality.

Or how about orientation neutral sex ed? Cover all the important physical topics, without touching on orientation, straight or gay.

or say; whether you are having heterosexual or homosexual sex protection is still needed as std's are present in both forms of sex?

Yes, it's important to educate kids on diversity and tolerance. However, this is something conservative Republicans will never support.

Sex-ed in our country is still in the works. But we do get pretty basic lessons from our Health teachers (which is UTTERLY ridiculous in our standards). Our secular country falls flat when the Church is there to ruin every law our congress passes. Nothing is safe, even handing out free condoms and contraceptives in licensed hospitals for artificial family planning.

About the sex-ed, even we thought of sex education for pre-schools, which the Church clearly opposed. It was moved eventually to elementary and then to high school. That doesn't include any topic regarding homosexuality (or even sexuality itself). I hate my God-loving overly religious country. :\

I think that they should incorporate more information on homosexuality.

VT and my mum (like I'd ask my Dad about sex and stuff...) were my sex ed. VT should be part of the national Sex Education curriculum. We might actually get more popular than GovTeen!

Whoa. I would never have assumed that. :P I was thinking Italy because of your name, etc. and because I didn't know the Philippines had a, lack of better terms, theocracy.

I try to keep a low profile ;) I'm the only active Filipino here in VT so far.

Yes, and as a matter of fact, we have. Basically, Religion is a very dominant force here, especially in politics. We got different sects and denominations endorsing like hell who to vote in the elections last May; but Catholic bishops and priests administer most of the influence. To tell that Bishops here poke their noses onto everything the government does, it's really a bad example of Secularization; or may be it's just politicians here are just too weak for any religious fatwas and criticism.
