View Full Version : Without bad there is no good?

So therefore, is Heaven is a place full of only "good" people, then it can't really exist. Because the terms good and bad are not neutral, there needs to be an opposite for one to exist.

Heaven is supposed to be a place full of morally righteous people. That's not necessarily "good", "good" and "bad" are subjective.
I would say that, since good and bad are subjective, neither really exists. It's a statement of opinion. While God may consider the acts of those people as "good", others might consider it "bad". I don't think it would be possible for every person in Heaven to have the same opinion on what's good and bad. I could call something good and you could call it bad. There will never be a time in history where every person unanimously considers something good or bad.

Statement is true. Also, I think things would get very dull and boring over time if everything was just good. Then, if everything is bad, we want some good. You need both. I think that the evil in the world has actually been a good thing for us because it's something we can learn by, debate, theorize, etc... If all was good then there wouldn't be much up for debate anymore. Why? Because if all is good then that means a negative emotion to someone's opinion - even if the opinion is totally stupid - would be considered rude and offensive.
Oh wait - was this supposed to be a thread about religion?

I know they are subjective. It's a way of showing how vague Christianity is. If you ask most Christians what heaven is, they will simply tell you that you need to act good to get into heaven.

It was supposed to be about the perception of what heaven contains, but I don't have a problem with the direction you're taking the thread.

Did you know that the first Matrix was designed to be a perfect human world? Where none suffered, where everyone would be happy. It was a disaster. No one would accept the program. Entire crops were lost. Some believed we lacked the programming language to describe your perfect world. But I believe that, as a species, human beings define their reality through suffering and misery. The perfect world was a dream that your primitive cerebrum kept trying to wake up from. Which is why the Matrix was redesigned to this: the peak of your civilization.
I rest my case.

Indeed. The reason Christianity is split into so many different denominations, in the end, is because people can't agree on what's good and bad.
There will always be bad and good. Unless every person in the world or, in this case, Heaven, were to have the EXACT same opinions, bad and good will exist. Even the slightest difference in thought would result in the creation of "bad", or "good".
Without bad or good, personality dies. Everybody is the same. I guess your statement is true, but it's hard to imagine. More like, "without bad, everything is good".

Eh, it's only one of the main arguments against the existence of God.

Banana is shaped perfectly to rest on the palm. It has this thing on top where you can peel it easily, it is easily eaten, sweet and nutritious; therefore, god exists.

God really did do a fantastic job on the banana. Too bad he really fucked up when designing the pineapple.

I bet you saw that one youtube. :D
Ok...
Physical universe did not exist before, but there was something that is not physical that made the physical world, and that's God, so God does exist.
(Are we spamming this thread? Can we take it to the religion thread ;) )

without bad good wouldnt be classed as good it would be classed as normal. Without an opposite you cant have something that isn't neutral. Becoz we no that heaven would be perfect that doesnt mean it will be good it just means there will be no bad so everything is good but then it would have to be classed as neutral. I seriously dont no if im making any sense

So I'm right. There can only be neutral.
