Halal Meat

What do you think of Halal meat? Do you agree with it? Should it be banned?

Personally, I dont like the idea of halal meat, only because it is a cruel way to kill an animal.

In UK law, all animals have to be stunned before being slaughtered UNLESS they are killed for religious purposes, meaning halal meat is perfectly legal. Killing animals the halal way is slitting the animal by the throat WITHOUT the animal being stunned first. I can't really understand why this is allowed IMO.

I have no problem with religions, but surely they could find a better way to kill an animal.

The main thing I have a problem with is that some people are eating Halal meat without realising it. For example, some fast-food chains such as McDonalds and KFC have been selling products with Halal meat without making the customer aware.
It wouldn't be so bad if Halal meat products were CLEARLY marked against normal meat products. I am against halal meat, so I would not want to eat it without realising it.

It's just senseless brutality. In normal meat they just use a bolt gun to lessen the suffering, but then that's just unnecessary. They're sentient beings too, no doubt. Can't they just try and lessen the pain?

either don't eat meat or accept that an animal has to die before you can eat it. Arguing over the means in which it dies so that you can somehow feel better about it being slaughtered is pointless, the end result is the same, its dead.

The main objection I have to this halal meat you described is how religious tradition gets the opportunity to circumvent the law.

Stunning. If it died from the stunning, then it is unfit for consumption.

There are rules to it.

The person who is going to 'slaughter' the animal has to be a Christian, Jew or a Muslim
They must say the name of God, be it Javeh or Allah, or whatever that God name has.
The knife must very sharp.
The animal must be facing Mecca or The Dome.
The animal has to be slit through the blood vessels that are around the neck.
Just one round[one slit], and no more.
The blood must come out.


Hallal meat, because the blood won't coagulate and become a carrier of diseases; salmonella is one. That's only thing I could think of as a benefit, or is it?

Cold blood animals needn't to be "Hallal"ed to be eaten.
