View Full Version : Should diary posts count for your post count?

It is not more sensible to make diary posts not count on your post count. It seems to be a popular idea on the site and it's not really fair to count threads which would otherwise be in the arcade as post counts. It is an option?

Why does it matter? Only a handful of threads do that.

It's more than a handful. On my new post 1st page, I see 1 counting game (count to 2012) and three dilema games, and there loads more

Most diary's contain non-game content, and contribute largely to the site. So why shouldnt they count?

It's not the non game content that shouldn't count, its the stupid and pointless counting games that contribute nothing to the site except spam. Why should a counting game in a members diary count for posts but a counting game in the arcade not count, it seems quite strange/unfair

Since the new restrictions on games in diaries were introduced there are very few spam threads being conducted. I dont think its a big deal.

Not to sound smug, but if stupid, pointless threads bother you, you should stick to diaries like An Exploration of Sentience and Regards to Evil.

If your diary is being spammed with game threads that you don't want there, move them to the VT Arcade. Problem solved. I think more diary threads are useful than they are spam.

Better question- Why does it matter? What does post count matter?

Though games are very limited in a diary, there are very simple solutions, either A.) Don't worry about what others are doing in their diary, the games are limited, it's spam. Nothing you can do. B.) You concentrate on more diaries that go for a different approach, nothing beats a diary with meaningful posts. C.) You just get over it because people are just going to have games in their diary. It's not like there's 10 games to a diary. There's 2. You don't have to contribute to it. I don't think it's a big deal. Post count doesn't matter.
