I'm really worried about my mom (move if needed). she has high blood pressure, and right now she's not feeling well. besides medicine and exercising, what can she do?

I'm so worried she will....die :(

Jess, as hard as it is not to worry, try not to. High blood pressure isn't as serious as it used to be now with all the medication and things there are to control it. Both my dad and myself have it, and we've got a steady course of beta blockers. High blood pressure does make you feel quite rough sometimes. It'll mess with your body temp, give you headaches and things like that but as long as shes taking her medication it should be ok. As for how to manage it make sure she does enough exercise, eats healthy food and keeps her cholesterol level low and she should be fine

As Aaron has said there are so many different types od medication that can help with all sorts of blood pressure problems. Feeling ill is to be expected but it doesn't mean that anything serious is going to happen to her. Try not to worry about all of this. maybe you casn talk to your dad or someone else about it who will be able to ive you more information about her specific problems and may be able to reassure you :)

As the above posters have emphasised, its fairly common and easily treated with medicine. Its not that serious but if you want to help her, you could help keeping her blood pressure low by doing chores for her ie making the dinner, cleaning etc. Its nothing to worry about, she wouldn't die and overreacting and stressing her out is the worst thing for her

I know how you feel with the worry, as my mom had a stroke years ago and has high blood pressure currently, however along with exercise and a balanced diet, she should be fine.

I did some research for you and found that some food can help lower blood pressure, as followed:

Lean cuts of meat.

Chicken and turkey (as long as the skin is removed).

Fresh or frozen fish.

Skimmed milk. (Semi-skimmed milk is fine in small quantities such as adding it to tea.)

Loaf breads, dinner rolls, English muffins, bagels and pita bread.

Cereals, as long as they are 'low sodium' varieties.

Plain rice and noodles.

Fresh or frozen vegetables and canned vegetable which have not had salt added.

Fruit.

Soups which are low in sodium.

Margarine and vegetable oils.

ive experienced first hand (still experiencing it) that if u keep worrying about ur mom then nothing gud will come of it i mean u probabbly feel like u would give ur life for her dont like when she is alone if u ever get mad at her u sometimes think of what if she died the start bursting into tears well stop then u wnt be basicly switching u health for her i mean like not litterally but just live ur life in worry and that is not gud just live a little (not too much) and just be a little more open to the face of death which now or later will happen (strt now before u go crazy p.s a very very very small line after a parent is dead)

high blood pressure is a problem growing in the usa and canada. some reason are due to poor deit. walking and loss of weight is a good idea if needed. sugar levels should be cheak == i would also ask her to have a cbc sma and fbs. all standard blood work.
urine test will also show results that asserbate the HB.
stop smoking if she does. smoking is the worse thing she can do. modrate drinking is ok but not inexcess . lay off the soft drinks, foods with high sugar counts, lay off the coffee and some teas. my uncle and grandfather r dentist -- HB can also be caused by bad hygene of the mouth. dr. neigh

With the right medication her doctor should be able to get this under control. Sometimes it takes a while to try different meds to find the combination that works best for the individual patient. If your mother is overweight at all weight reduction can make a big difference too.
