I have a few PS2 games that are to scratched to play, and I was wondering if any of those Scratch Repair Kits or Machines, really work or if they're a waste of money.

Pritty much a load of shit. I use a chemical to remove scratches out of a car because im in the car fixing and selling busness any ways i then use a cloth to let it soke in, your probly not going to get this cemical so just use furniture polish. and then use a paper towel.

Toothpaste. As weird as it sounds, it actually works. Rub it perpendicular to the track direction (i.e. in lines from the center to the outside of the disc) with a soft (ideally, something like an optical lens) cloth. I've used that technique to repair a disk before.

I'd like to point out that a DVD game disk is way different than a car. While, yes, the chemicals you use would get the scratch off the disk, it would also almost certainly wipe any data off the disk as the data is stored in pretty much 'micro scratches'. Small little indentations in the disk that a laser can read. Any chemical that smoothes out scratches will remove a good portion of the data.

@ Tyger;
You could try David's method of toothpaste. I know that works pretty well.
Another method that seems to work, though you need to do it often, is using Windex. Spray Windex (Has to be the brand name Windex, not any of that off-brand shit) on to the disk, and let it sit for a little bit. Then wipe it off. Should read without a problem.
