Ok so I need to lose some weight. I ride my bike to school every day which is about a 40 min ride each way. If I eat well and cut back on sugar and use a gear on my bike that makes me work a bit will I lose weight and how soon should I start to see like my stomach and man boobs disappear.

the bike riding is great exercise. and yeah, use a tougher gear. use it in stages. like warm up with a light one, then get heavier and heavier, then go back. switch it up like that. but that only works your lower body. your 'man boobs' won't disappear just from riding your bike. you need to do upper body strengthening. but definitely develop the lower body first. work up. to train your shoulders, back, and core, do things like boxing, push-ups, planks, and crunches.
Boxing is a great workout. most of my family and friends have done a mix of that and martial arts for a long time. it works every part of you, literally! it's tough, but if you want to get in shape, that's definitely the way to go. it also lets you blow off a little steam. hitting a bag or someone wearing target mitts helps me out lol :P.
push-ups have never been my favorite, but they are great for core and upper arms strength. if you want to focus on your abs, do planks and crunches. a plank is where you get down like you would do a push-up, but rest on your elbows and put your lower arm on the ground. hold yourself up for 30 seconds. it's tough, but it works.
i do 100 crunches every day, and it really isn't that difficult. i do them in sets on 20 with short rests in between. you don't get sweaty, and they strengthen your abs. but those abs won't show up unless you burn off fat by doing endurance and get your heart rate up. that's where biking, running, boxing, even jumping on a trampoline comes in.
you definitely want to do strength training before aerobic work. and make sure to stretch.
as far as diet goes, the best way to nourish yourself would be 5 small meals a day, instead of 3 big ones. breakfast is the most important. it kick-starts your metabolism for the rest of the day. if you eat something sugary, you will crave that all day, so set the bar high in the morning. oatmeal, eggs, bananas, or toast with peanut butter are all good choices. for a mid-morning snack, try a granola or power bar, or a piece of fruit. bananas are my favorite; they taste great, and will hold you off. they quadrupile in size in your stomach. for lunch eat something with protein. turkey is leaner than ham, always remember that. you want lean proteins, which DOESN't count red meats. poultry, fish, and the like are lean proteins. between lunch and dinner, find a small snack to hold you over until the next meal. dinner honestly should be the smallest of your three meals, but our society has put emphasis on this meal as the biggest and most important.
two things to remember:
1. eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a college kid with a maxed out credit card. :P
2. avoid trans-fats at all costs. your body doesn't have the enzyme to break them down, which means they are just stored in your body for god knows how long.
i hope this helps you. if you have any questions for me, or if what i wrote isn't clear, just post on my profile or send me a message. :D my mom is a fitness trainer and has owned her own gym before, so i know this stuff. :D

I'm also fat haha.
"I'm 15, 5"7 and weigh 205 pounds, however I recently had strep throat and after I got over it I weighed myself because my throat hurt so bad I wasn't able to swallow anything for about 6 days. Anyway, I was about 220-225, however after I got strep I dropped down to 210. After that, I decided that my sickness started the job for me, and I was going to finish it.
That was about a week ago. Now, I weigh 205, so I lost about 5 pounds in a week. The thing I do that I think is working extremely well?
Strawberries. And lots of them.
What I do is wake up in the morning and eat half a carton of strawberries for breakfast, then go to school and eat a normal lunch. Then I come home, and around 6 I will finish off that carton of strawberries, then if I'm still hungry maybe have a SMALL bowl of Special K cereal.
I don't even exercise much, yet I'm losing a lot of weight. Even people at school tell me that they notice I'm looking smaller.
So trust me, this works. And if you don't like strawberries, find a substitute thats just as healthy. I also like Blueberries and Raspberries.
So yeah, eating like this plus your 40 minute bike ride each day, you should be dropping pounds in no time just like me.(:

food control and exercise. It is true what they say - all you need to do is watch what you eat and expend more energy than you consume. It is really simple.Change your lifestyle. If you call this a diet so you will have all the weight back (and more) within months of losing it.Join a support group online. In my case, It is important that you do not feel alone, and reach out to friends (old or new) is generally a good decision.
