Extra tags in advanced search, such as what is below this here text, would be quite lovely because I get tired of doing over and over and over again.

What I'm talking about is primarily for the youtube and url tags.

I'd definitely like the YouTube tags.

I'm confused. We already have both of those bbcodes, and there's a button for the url tag if you dont want to type it by hand.

He means the YouTube tags, Flash ect.
Instead of typing [ youtube][/ youtube] you could just click the button, i like this idea :)

The only problem with that is 2 reasons:
It may sound unrealistic, but it's something to think about.
Adbots and people that advertise will not know how to use the tags manually so us actual members do. Though you may forget how to do the tags here (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/misc.php?do=bbcode)

The con of having a button is that advertisers or trolls would have it so much easier to use and spam multiple videos, rather than entering the tags manually. I think it could cause some major problems if we were ever to have a troll attack or just an ad bot. I just don't think it would be a good idea.

As for the rest of the tags I had seen in that list codes and they are all media related which I don't really see a specific need for. I think if there was ever a need for additional codes they could be implemented and and added to that list. I don't think they necessarily need to be buttons.

Regardless of if you have them or not, you're gonna get spambots and the such. And, if you really want to prevent that, you could just implement the thing that's on the bottom of the picture where you have to put in a thing to show you're human. And I was just talking about the url and youtube tags, not the google ones and stuff.

To me this just seems like a lot more work than it's really worth. I know how to work the codes, though for those that don't know the codes have the list I mentioned above. I don't see the need for any embedding, I just think it's just so much easier. Instead of confirming if I'm human, just enter the codes manually and done. URL is easy with the one already supplied. Youtube is just that easy as well. I see no point.

I still stick by the fact that it would be a hell of a lot easier. We get spammers anyway, it's not as if we're going to get that many more just because it's a button. If that means we need to do the human identification thing again I'm fine with it.

We already have the url button so its a question as to whether we need a youtube button. The thing about the tag is that you need to know how to use it, what to put in between the tags, so just adding a button wouldnt help anyone new with that. If you know how to use the tag its no big deal doing the typing, so I dont see that it would achieve a great deal.

Wouldn't you be for the resistance of spammers and trolls? I mean it would be that much easier. I mean the entering it manually takes absolutely no time. I'm not so lazy I need a button then a confirmation. If you look at it and it's entirety, it takes more time to confirm yourself after pressing the button inserting the link then everything. Just a a pain. So manually entering is the better way to go. It's more convenient.

You're right; we do have them. I never noticed that. :P

Like Ben said, there will be spammers regardless. Having a button that puts the youtube tags won't change anything, nor will it be hard for new members. I don't understand how a button would be hard for them.

So you agreed with Nick and saw his point. Yet you're still not getting the point of everything I said....

I'm not agreeing with Nick. I just didn't know there was a URL tag already. Spammers and trolls don't just randomly form all of a sudden when you put in youtube tags. I don't see how having youtube tags would do anything but add convenience. I mean really, they won't be like, "Youtube tags are on this forum; lets spam their shit because it'll save us two seconds!" Your argument makes no sense, Ronnie.

Heh, I just noticed I posted this in the wrong forum. :P

So this wasn't you? Lol. Looks as if you're agreeing. He made a good point.

You sure you've been here since 08? Lol. That tage has been there for a while now.

Spammers and trolls don't just randomly form all of a sudden when you put in youtube tags.
If there is an attack of porn and they use a flash code or use something. it would be that much easier to insert it into posts at a massive rate. I'm not saying they randomly show up. You completely misconstrued everything I said. All I said is, we have enough wise spread of buttons, I don't see why we need a media button. This is what I've been trying to say since post one in his thread.

Your argument makes no sense, Ronnie.
Also note: re-read everything I said. I just think we have enough tags as it is. With where we are. I believe and know this for a fact that it could be an abused feature and I think it will do more harm than good,

I personally just use the tags, but it doesn't look like a hugely massive amount of work to add and it could be helpful to people. I'd support adding some of the commonly used tags as buttons.

Are we really that lazy that we cant type a short little tag? What has th world come to...

I think it would be easier to have a youtube button, seeing as the problem of people not knowing how to add videos in the first place is quite a regular occurrence so using the buttons could make it a lot easier. As for the increase of adbots, its highly unlikely because the content of the threads they make is already created before they start posting, really its just like copy and pasting their advertisements and then clicking the post button.

You sure you've been here since 08? Lol. That tage has been there for a while now. I had no idea what you're asking. And what does me being here since '08 mean? I didn't know that I had to highlight it and stuff because I wasn't and am still not good with computers.

Uh, I dunno know about you, but I don't use the last five on the list, nor do most people.

It is worse than stealing or shoplifting as most things like that are mainly done spontaneously. However to knowingly do something wrong would not be looked upon Lightly if caught.

Wow. I give you the award: "Most randomes thing said in this thread" (unless it was only me who didnt understand.

If we got a youtube button, it would use the same tags right? How would that stop/help/make more/something more spam? >.^?
