Seriously, EVERY SINGLE TIME i went to look at the playlist THERE'S AT LEAST ONE OR MORE GREEN DAY SONG, I'm a fan of Green Day and all, but it's annoying as hell, because i try to listen to this radio to learn about a new artist, not one everyone already listens to...

Then apply to be a dj and add variety to it.

You can do what Tom said or you simply do not have to listen to it. There is youtube and your own music taste if wish to listen to your own music then don't bother with Gov radio. They have on there what most people today like, listen to it or don't.

You're probably listening to the auto DJ then.

The Auto DJ is an already-loaded playlist that plays when a DJ isn't broadcasting.

A lot of us aren't broadcasting yet actually, so odds are every time that you tuned in was the Auto DJ playing Green Day songs. Anyway, according to James's records, every-single Green Day album is loaded into the Auto DJ.

However, I'm already broadcasting. You can listen to my set Thursday and Friday at 10:00-11:00pm EST and Sunday 9:00-11:00pm, or try to look at when other DJ's are playing (there's a schedule listed on the site for a reason), though I don't know how many others have started broadcasting yet. Trust me, there's no Green Day on my playlists. Actually, I very rarely play mainstream music. I alternate between Indie music, the artists usually having low to medium exposure, and then I have darker sets, with the same exposure. The only time I play currently mainstream music is if it's a request and I like the music...

I've gotten rid of most of the Green Day songs in the AutoDJ playlist. I can't guarantee you won't hear two Green Day songs back to back, as AutoDJ doesn't give me the ability to play X songs by an artist per hour.

I was gonna apply for GovRadio (Seeming as I've done online djing for 8 years) the gutting thing is the license only covers songs that have been made in USA - which instantly means I cannot use practically half my music.

Yeah, it does suck. It actually just allows for music that has permission to be broadcasted in the US, which does let me play some UK music. Anything played on stations in the US is allowed, as I'm told. It's just a matter of figuring out if the artist is played in the US, for that I use a site called yes.com.

GovRadio AutoDJ has a large amount of music in the database. I am currently in the process of uploading around 600 more tracks into it. The AutoDJ music is from promotional CDs that are sold only to DJs. The problem is that each track has to be in the format of title-artist. And when the CDs are ripped the title doesn't include the artist. So I have to go in and change the title of 600 tracks, before they can be uploaded. We are working on getting the music added as fast as we can.

I hadn't read this thread, but Ricky have you considered any of the software programs that will populate all the files' metadata from any of the many free providers of song data? I used to use MediaMonkey as my player and it would do this, and a lot of ripping programs do it as well. That'd save you time.

I'm going to look at that. It'd beat renaming 900 songs again.
