On monday, when we begin school, and on friday when school ends, we sing our National Anthem "İstiklal Marşı"
Do you also do this where you live ?
And at meetings in school, at theater games or ceremonies( when they are related about a national holiday [ like a holiday about the War o' Independence ] ) we also have a moment of silence, to remember and to respect to those who have fallen in the War

In America, we do not sing our national anthem, but everyday before the announcements we have the ability to say the Pledge of Allegiance if we wish, and then after the pledge is a moment of silence. At sporting evens the National Anthem is sung, though.

Every morning at the start of 2nd/3rd period we have to do three abysmal things: say the Pledge of Allegiance, the Texas Pledge, and a minute-long moment of silence. I fucking hate the Pledge of Allegiance, mostly because of the words "under God" and the phrase "with liberty and justice for all", two horrific lies. The Texas Pledge is just another example of the Texas government's huge ego. The minute of silence is a pointless waste of time.

Pledge of Alliance ?
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Technically the "indivisible" is incorrect too.
Texas has a pledge? :P
Honor the Texas flag; I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one state under God, one and indivisible.

Pledge of Alliance ?
The Pledge of Allegiance (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pledge_of_Allegiance)
And I can't believe that Texas has its own pledge. Lol, that makes me laugh so hard.

Yeah, it just shows how self-centered this state really is. Our governor hates the federal government and has talked about seceding. We have our own Pledge. For a while, sodomy was illegal.

Ahh that one,
We have something like that :)
But it doesn't include religious or political figures, that's why it is for children
And from what I understood, Texas has it's own pledge ? From what I understood there is only one for america, not for each state.
"I shall be loyal to the Cowboys of the Eternal State! of Texas ! " :P

Tell that to the Americans, who love to indoctrinate every child with fundamentalism. "Evolution is a satanic lie, my holy children of the great Empire of the United States!"
There are no cowboys in Texas. Also, Texas considers itself more than a state. Almost like an "ally" of the US, not just a state.

Every morning before the announcements the Canadian national anthem plays and you can sing along if you want, most of us just stand listening. That's it :P

I want to move to Canada. Then I want be forced to sing crap.
A few years ago when i was in 7th grade, a kid didn't put his hand over his heart and sing the pledge of allegiance and got yelled at by our teacher. It was ridiculous. Then the teacher gave us a lecture about respecting our troops and country and how that kid is un-American.

I bet he could technically sue over that, I know a kid in Florida did. Got over $30,000 from his school district because all the staff there were douches.
Patriotism is all good and fine, but keep it to yourself.

We don't say the pledge of allegiance at all at my school. I think it's because there's so many Arabic people and they don't want to say "God." I think that's kind of silly, but oh well. On days like 9/11 we have a moment of silence.

In Britain, if you go to a catholic school, then you might pray otherwise nothing else happens

No singing on first and last days. Every morning there is the Pledge. And on the last day people sometimes scream. Haha but that's it as far as my school.
