Oh look, a new forum! :D
What's the best airline in your opinion? An explanation would be nice. My favorite has to be Continental Airlines — now called United because they merged today — and that's because I live in Houston. I also like Qantas, because I'm Australian. Their food is pretty good and their trans-Pacific flights are particularly comfortable.

qantas all the way. i have only ever flown qantas, virgin blue, jetstar and air new zealand but qantas has always been the best. they are generally on time, comfortable and the food is reasonable.

Air Canada is imo the best in Canada. I used to hate on them, but they've stepped up their game a lot.
I wouldn't even want to try to guess this for America. Every airline I've ever been on in the US has been atrocious.

For me the best airlne I have ever flown is Delta Air Lines. I have flown with them eight times this past year, on 6 different aircraft types and they were all highly impressive. I found their flight attendants to be highly professional, attentive and caring. On one flight they were preparing formula for a mother with a crying baby. Their product is very good too. Their new slimline seats which are being installed accross their fleet are extremely comfortable for flights over 10 hours. They come with lumbar support and winged headrests. Their inflight entertainment system - Delta On Demand - was superb. It was laid out miles better than Continental's or Virgin Atlantic's. It is 100% free internationally or to Alaska and Hawaii but the price otherwise is very reasonable. It offers a large varied selection of movies, HBO specials, TV shows and more. Their catering is above standard too. I loved it - and I'm a VERY picky eater. Plus, their facilities in the airports are excellent (bar T3 in JFK, not their fault but the sooner it's rubble the better). Their self service and online checkin is easy and painless. Theor website is very easy to navigate and is simple and not at all taxing.
I would, time and time again, definitely pay the extra money to fly with Delta. Every time.

Oh god, US Air is disgusting. Worst flying experience I've ever had, their fleet seems to be in very bad condition.

Of the airlines I've flown on, Aer Lingus is typically the best. Last two times I've been on Aer Lingus we got brand new planes (I believe Airbus A330s) that were very nice.
After that I'd say Delta. Usually the planes are in good condition, but the odd one has crappy seats and TVs.
In terms of the actual aircraft, the Airbuses I'm on tend to be better than Boeings.

They were A330s. They've all been retrofitted with new tvs, seats, and interiors. They're quite an upgrade from what I've heard. They are my second favourite airline. I am flying them on the 26th of this month.

It's a mixed bag with Delta ATM. Their older planes are all being outfitted over the next 2 years so that's good news.

Depends on the airline.

British Airlines and Air France. Reasons: Good food, polite staff, cheaper baggage fees, fast flights.
Southwest isnt bad either Reasons: same as above.

Overall SAS! Flew on it from D.C. to Copenhagen then Copenhagen to a city in Norway. Very nice flight attendants and pretty good food. Both flights were early too :yeah:
Here in the US I pick United. Much much much better than American Airlines. They destroyed my luggage. But those are the only two I've ever flown in the US :P

US.Air is really shitty tbh, I flew them on longer flights and I always ended up on a small plane and it's scary in turbulence. So I prefer Delta any day. They also only serve pretzels >.<
AA is probably another shitty one. They're pretty damn expensive and service is shitty too. So I always vouch good for Delta. They have plenty of choices, first class looks decent and their attendants are always helpful and cheerful.

I fly at least once a year and Usually have to take US air. Which I hate soo much. The seats are uncomfterble and the food is disgusting. But a few times I flew delta and it was awesome. The food was included in your ticket, and it was real good food too lol. And they provide you with plenty of space and comfy seats. As well as give you blankets or pillows and even headphones for their nice tvs. So I would fly delta any day over US air

I don't like US Air because their planes are literally shit. The tray tables aren't glued together properly, which means you can see all this disgusting pink glue on it. Their seats are falling apart. There's nothing special about their service, they don't offer anything unique, it's all just disgusting.

Apparently AC and United just passed a new partnership deal they're describing it as the closet thing to a merger that the two companies can come too...
what are your thoughts on United?

Well, United just merged with Continental, Houston's airline, which for me is good: our airport (George Bush Intercontinental) is gonna have a lot more business and destinations thanks to this. Unfortuantely, we lost a Fortune 500 company's HQ to Chicago.
I don't think United's gonna do any more merging for a while.

I've flown with UA before, dire. The only thing that made up for the trip was the nice LHR based crew on the way back. Their American ones were woeful.

+1. I don't like the new logo either.
I haven't flown any airlines, but my mom and a friend flies around once a year, one on Southwest and the other on AirTran. I haven't heard anything bad about either. If SWA decides to keep AirTran's 717's, I wonder what the paint will be like... :D

I've flown on Northwest, United, Luftstansa, Southwest, and JetBlue. Northwest was the worst because my flight was delayed a whole 16 hours in Pittsburgh. That was because a part from the fuel tank broke so they had to fly in a new one. My favorite would most likely be Luftstansa because it was so comfortable. And they give some exciting German food. hah. Southwest is just cheap. JetBlue is one I have no opinion on. And United is just like any other struggling airline.. blahh. haha.

Well, I dont live in America but American airlines SUCK !
Seriously, I was going to Chicago from Washington. The plane had only 2 seats in a row, it was like a sausage ! And we went through security checks, even an xray machine, for THIS ?!
This wasn't the only one, two years ago I went to LA from San Fran. and the plane was super crowded and litle, seats are too small, food sucked...
Only their long-time flights are good ( Like US-Europe flights )
