Well? anyone like Avenged Sevenfold? They're a great band and if you play the guitar fun to learn there songs. I have to say one of my favorite songs to play is Unholy Confessions. is you play guitar you can learn this song here (http://www.songsterr.com/a/wa/song?trackPos=0&id=580) and if you do like the band whats your favorite song by them?

They're okay. I don't particularly like their image, though.

Yeah, they have some good songs, but I just don't feel there's enough variety.

A lot of their songs sound the same, and their albums are pretty much one continuous song. I can only listen to half of Nightmare before getting bored.

Oh i see what you mean. I've never really looked at it that way but your correct. they really don't have that much of a variety.

I like them, some of their videos are a little disturbing but I like their songs. Though if I saw them on the streets or something I would probably run away.... scary xD

hjdkjdsdhafkhdkjghfgiulthryshreylrfsegfygdfjdhfhdsghjvjb. You listen to Metallica. You can't comment on stuff like that. :P
And to your question, OP. I do not like Avenged Seven Fold Their vocalist is just not the funnest person to listen to. Some of their guitar work is good, yes.

Pssht, Metallica has a different sound in each of their albums. Take, for example, the obvious difference in sound between Ride the Lightning, which has a dense, echo-ish sound to And Justice For All, which has a dry, crackling, precise sound. They have enough variety, it may not be a LOT, but it's there. On the other hand, A7X is a lot of the same.

You could say that about any band. Only a select few are able to change style and keep their popularity, The Beatles are a perfect example of that exclusive group. Metallica barely made it through their transition to hard rock.

Exactly.
They're not bad. I like to listen to their songs sometimes, but usually not the whole albums. It just gets kinda too... monotonous after a while.
They sure have some good songs though. Like Bat Country or I Won't See You Tonight... those would be my favourites probably =)

Upon exploring them further, I really don't like the mainstream sound they have (fight me all you want, but I've heard more unique sounds). However, A Little Piece of Heaven is one of the most psycho songs ever. Psycho songs = instant love for me. I mean, really, the dude goes psycho, murders the girl, eats her heart, screws her dead body, treats her like she's alive, then she comes back from the dead, murders him, eats his heart, then they get married and go kill people. :O It's awesome.

He didn't leave for A7X, he left because he had other shit going on in his life, he did that album and 1 tour and that was it.

I meant that he left tham and joined a7x... It's like Madonna (just for the example) is going to perform with an unknown little band somewhere in north asutralia. That's not gonna happen.
It's like comparing James Hatfield and Rimo Katipelto (vocalist of stratovarius). It's out of their league. It's just absurd.
He left because he was tired of dream theatre. What I don't understand is why play with A7X when you are Mike Portnoy.

He left D.T cause they he wanted to stick to the old prog rock stuff, and they wanted to change direction. He only was with A7X for ONE TOUR! and is doing it to honour the memory of The Rev

At times I find the guitar tones and drum compression to be extremely annoying. Every song has the same guitar tone. Every song has that same retarded sounding bass drum. It gets really old really fast.

With the drums, are you a drummer? I am and I can say they are nowhere near the same in every song, The rev was a musical genius.

I'm not a drummer, no. But even though The Rev was a gifted drummer, the compression applied to his playing, notably on the bass, just annoys me. It's a stereotypical "new metal" sound, and it sounds terrible.

Justin, We all have different taste in music. I do like A7X and like their new album, and would have to disagree about it being stereotypical "new metal" sound and the fact that its sounds "terrible", thats a opinion.

I don't know, it just seems most metal bands these days overuse double bass and have compression similar to what A7X uses.

What do you mean by compression? so just get a dead no ringing from the bass drum? ALL drummers do that to maximise the volume, attack and overall quality of the bass drum. And everyone uses double bass, not just metal, jazz do, funk and punk do too. and in comparison to lots of bands A7X dont use that much double bass work.

I know all drummers do that, but it seems a bit excessive nowadays. It's not the same sound as what you'd find in, for example, 80s metal. It's too sharp for me, I guess that's just personal taste.
I have nothing against double bass, on the contrary, I love double bass.
