Almost everything I've posted to this forum so far has been depressing or angry so I'm pleased to announce that today I started babysitting two children across the street and I'm absolutely in love with them. Emily is 10 and Aidan is 7. Both are sweethearts.
At one point, Aidan asked me how long I was staying and when I said 'About fifteen more minutes', he proclaimed that I was not allowed to leave. He was also really sad upon hearing I already had plans for Halloween.
Emily also was drawing pictures for me to pin up (and I plan on hanging them in my locker at school for something to make me smile) and looked at me and said: 'Does this mean we're friends now?'
I replied, 'Yeah, we are.'
Thing is, after only two hours with them, I realized that these are possibly two kids who will unknowingly help me get better. I feel really lucky that instead of them being little terrors, they're two creative and smart kids who made me feel good.
