View Full Version : Is it child abuse to allow young teen girl to carry a baby to term

I was reading a website of a woman who writes recaps of the Maury show among other topics. She wrote about an episode involving a girl who got pregnant age 12 and is now a 14 year old mother of a 6 month girl. The woman criticized the teen girl's mother saying that she is a child abuser for allowing her daughter to have the baby. She says that getting pregnant at a young age is a huge strain on a girl's body and that many teenage girls who get pregnant around that age have to have C-section because their pelvises are not developed enough for vaginal births. The woman made similar comments about another girl who came on the show. This girl was 12 and had a baby and she lost her virginity at age 11.
I asked about this on Yahoo Answers a user stated that getting pregnant around ages 10-13 is dangerous and medically requires abortion because of a high chance of complications such as hypertension and fatty liver.
Anyway, I feel that forcing such a procedure is abusive.

I don't feel it is child abuse. The girl screwed up by even having sex at that young an age when they should have known there was the possibility of having birth (Yes, even if there is a condom involved, you can still make a baby.) The mother believed in having a baby, and if we start critiquing ones beliefs (which many already do, but I mean in general), then it's just putting people down all around.

Seriously? lol. The girl is the one who met the guy, decided to have sex, probably didn't wear a condom, and ended up in this situation. She made the decision to have sex, she deals with the consequences. Personally I'm pro-life, and you don't get to make the decision once you become pregnant. You make it when you decide to have sex. When she decided to be irresponsible, she made the decision already. Even if she was forced by her mother to have the baby, it was still her decision to have sex, and therefore she's the one to blame for her own problems.
