My girlfriend ( of 5 months ) lives in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. And we've planned that I'm coming there for the week to stay with her at her house in Cctober for her birthday. Her mom said she'll pay for anything ( Tickets, passport, ect. )

Now, the problem is, we don't know how I'm going to get there.
I don't have a passport, but if you're under 16 you can travel to another country by land or sea as long as you have a birth certificate and/or an ID ( Like a school ID ) Now, I need some opinions.

One idea I had was I could take a plane to the Buffalo Airport in New York, which is about 30 minutes from the Niagara falls Canadian border. Then I would have to take a bus from the airport to the falls and they pick me up from there

The second idea was to just buy 2 tickets, to and from Canada, and a passport, but that would be more expensive.

So, which one sounds like a better idea?

The first one sounds good, although may be complicated.

That's exactly what I was thinking, but it would also be faster because I would have to wait 1-2 weeks for my passport to arrive.

It'll be better in the long run to get your passport that way you won't have to worry about needing it after you turn 16

Go get the passport. Like Tom said, you may as well do it sooner rather than later. A passport is a valuable thing to have.

Thats true. I dunno. I'll see what I can do in this position. If I can get the passport I am.

A passport takes longer than a week or two, it's kind of an extended process....My friend went out of the country on vacation this spring and she had to get it like 3 months in advance to make sure she got it in time....

Get the passport. Don't go to Buffalo, believe me. That place is a hell hole. A tourist could call it "decent" but living there was horrible.

Plus, getting the passport will get that out of the way for future complications.

Although, if you're seeing her soon, the passport might not come on time. My passport took six months or so.

And I may add there is the trouble of renewing your passport every year or so.
