Its a fact of life, teens wanna get their driver licenses and go out and drive. So why not make a section in like general discussion about cars so people can talk brands, safe driving tips, dream cars, etc etc. Would be a good conversation forum imo.

Discussion (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showthread.php?t=79769&highlight=Car+Forum) This has been discussed before. Though in my opinion The White Padded Room is the best place for it because you can discuss anything in that section. Of course the forum would bring some traffic, but would eventually die.

i think this is getting more and more relevant if im honest
vts not getting younger
same for its members
were all coming closer to and reaching driving age
i think its going to be a very useful forum in years to come for many current members
and many future members
but i believe not just refining it to cars, and branching out to transport and other vehicular type things such as bikes

I agree. Like an "Automotive/Transit" section :)

Not sure that I agree with that. Is there any evidence that Vt is getting older, sure a group of us are, but its constantly topped up by new 13 year olds (with suprising personal proportions) and overall the number of members too young to drive probably far outweighs those that are old enough, and for many of those that are old enough having enough money to be choosey about what car to buy is completely unrealistic.

yes a group of us may be getting older
but that group is vast and ever growing
we might get top ups of well endowed 13 year olds but people grow up and get older

and also its not so much about the choices between cars
more of a helpful guide to those who have no clue about cars

I agree with Calum since more and more people are making this suggestion. There are a plethora of members now.

Personally I'd say that there still isn't enough of a demand for any kind of automotive forum. If you think about it, what would the content be?

"What car should I get?" "Name your car" "Which car is better" ?

I just don't see the relevance when a quick little thread in twpr can do the same.

EDIT: I see you are a member of the car group

Personally, i think that until there is a large amount of members above the driving age, that group, plus TWPR should do

"hey my car exhaust just fucked up, and the guy at the garage just quoted me XXXXXX is that too much or is that a good deal, would it be cheaper to buy it myself and try to instal it myself" or something along tohse lines would probably be very common
since as nick said, with most teens not being rich enough for a choice
they will have to settle for cars in not the best condition
so maintenance quesitons may be common

98 members in the group,
like 10 suggestions on this idea
its too many people really to turn down
since thats similar to the number of members we have keeping other sections of the forum running

Fair point, but what about the fact that a car forum would be VERY repetitive. Maybe a diary? I just dont see a constant stream of threads being made. 3-4 stickies would probably cover roughly 60-70% of the traffic.

but what are we supposed to discuss in it? what things about cars?

isnt that the story of p101?
where everything can be answered in the stickies
yet people still make the threads

but what are we supposed to discuss in it? what things about cars?

engine help
which cars are reliable
which is best value for money
and general vehicular finances

Whats a better way to get help with your vehicle, randomly posting in White padded room for example bout a problem or a car section where people who know more bout cars are more likely to look.

Well its there now. :P Yay?
