Well, I must admit that MTV is a little sexual. She is right, though. It is a bit inappropriate for kids our age.
Just because all of the other kids watch it doesn't mean you have to watch it. Find another channel you associate well with, and if it really comes to this, just watch VH1 (That's like MTV right?). If you want reality T.V go to channels like FOX. I know they have some shows there. Don't discredit your mother, however. She just wants you to be exposed to the appropriate stuff. Stuff on MTV isn't appropriate.
If you really want to get it unblocked, though, talk to her about it. Tell her your reasons, and discuss it civilly. Don't argue about it. Reason with her and maybe you can come to an agreement. Hope this helps :)

Thank god. Kiddo, if you're watching MTV for the music, there's none left. Go onto Youtube or last.fm for that, you'll discover better things. And if you're in it for the reality TV shows, you're not missing a lot, because such shows present a really twisted view of reality and the real world isn't like that at all. It's pretty trashy television. I hate to sound like your parents, but you're better off going outside or reading a book.
If you really are content on getting her to let you watch it, though, start being more respectful and responsible around her, pitch the idea with civility, and don't whine if you don't get your way.

Uh, there's nothing special about MTV at all. Don't worry about it.

Listen to the other posters, MTV isn't that great. Don't worry about "all of your friends" watching it, you don't have to follow the crowd. There are better stations on TV.

It's not like I want to watch the innapropiate shows, I just wanna watch things like parental control, room raiders, disaster date, and 16 and pregnant.
but i understand. i guess there is no way to convince her. i should be happy for her letting me watch it with an adult, atleast.
i am going to show her that i can be responsible about what i watch.

It's your mom's rules. Not watching MTV isn't the end of the world, right? It may seem like it right now, but actually think about it and about all of the reasons people have said above and maybe it'll actually make sense for you.
MTV isn't that great anyways. There's better things to do than watch that.

Sorry, hun, you can't always have what you want. Besides, MTV is trash these days...a ridiculous distortion of real life. The only reason I'd watch it is to see old reruns of Beavis and Butthead, that's about it. If you want music...it's called Youtube.

There are plenty more things to find on the television than the junk on MTV. I never watched anything on there except MTV AM which was music videos. I am pretty sure you can find better things to watch.

You're better off not watching MTV. I remember when it had music, when i was 5. ._.
The programming twists real life too far, my God kids believe everything they see on TV.
But if you really want to watch trash, as above, talk to your mother civilly about it.
I recommend TruTV over MTV any day.
Remember: It's not reality, it's actuality.
