Is it weird not to have had a girlfriend by 16?

I am 16 and I am really awkward with people and girls and I have never had a girlfriend yet all my mates have had some. Is this weird am I going to end up a some hermit in a cave?

No, its not wierd and its certainly not an indication that you wont find the right person somewhere along the line. Some people just sort of play at having girlfriends in my opinion, while others are more shy and will wait until its for real.

Like I have said on many similar posts, I am 18, and I do not have a girlfriend and never have, and probably wont have one for quite a while yet. It certainly isn't wierd to not have a girlfriend. My friends have never questioned why I have never had a girlfriend, but I often feel left out of 'normal' teenage life, whatever that is.

I do know someone who was incredibly shy and who some would consider a 'loner', and had never had a relationship, but as soon as he went to university everything seemed to change for him. He became incredibly social and managed get into a serious relationship with a girl.

Just enjoy single life while it lasts, then the right girl will come along when you least expect it!

No there's nothing wrong with you. Plenty of people wait until they're older to date. I was 15 and my boyfriend was 16 when we first got together, and I was his first. Before me he told me he'd had no interest in dating because he wanted to wait for the "one" & no girls appealed to him/he didn't like how they acted or looked, etc.
Basically what I'm trying to say is, it's better to wait then to jump around from girlfriend to girlfriend like so many teenagers do because they want to seem cool. When you finally find the right girl someday, she'll thank you & respect you for waiting. (:

You shouldn't worry about it. The majority of teenage relationships aren't incredibly serious either way.

There is nothing wrong with never having a gf before 16. I didn't have my first gf till a month after my 16th birthday. Now im still 16 and single now.

Don't worry I was teased by people for never having a girl friend when I was still 12 they said I wouldn't have a gf till I was in uni but I have one I was kind of shock my self when I found outa girl liked me the point is it happens when it happens.

There's nothing wrong with you, I didn't meet my girlfriend until I was almost 16 (I literally had a week to go) and we didn't technically get together until after I had turned 16. It'll happen, just keep waiting for the right girl.
