If im correct in public school you are not allowed to talk about religion. This is not only unconstitutional but it is also extremely hypocritical. If athiests have the right not to talk about religion than people with religious beliefs have the right to talk about religion.

So theres what i think what do you think.

If you're talking about religious classes, then I'm fine with those, if they find a way to encompass EVERY religion in the school, which is likely not possible.

Since when are people not allowed to talk about religion? I believe students should be free to talk about religion and politics at school, as long as the school doesn't endorse any positions. The first amendment doesn't apply only to those over 18.

I'm an atheist, by the way.

Well i mean in public schools (from what ive heard) you cant even pray before you eat lunch. dont religious people (politicly correct term?) have just as much right to pray as athiests have not to pray.

I realize im using "from what ive heard" a lot and i realize that it might not be reliable information.

p.s. I have no problem with athiests seeing as how it would be judgemental and hypocritical to think differently.

I don't know if that applies to my school, I don't think I've ever seen someone who wanted to, Christian or not.

The right to pray in private at school is constitutionally protected.

At my school (I go to public school) students are allowed to do or not do anything that follows their religious beliefs. The only thing is, teachers and officials are not allowed to talk about religion, unless it's in the context of humanities or history courses. We have students here who say grace before meals, and we have a couple Muslim students who pray during school hours. And we have quite a few Atheists too, and they feel quite comfortable. Here, at least, everyone is very tolerant.

It's the same at my school. I've never seen anyone praying, but I am sure that they would be allowed to if they wanted to. My school is really diverse, and I think everyone there is pretty accepting of other religions.

I don't care if you talk about religion. in fact, last year, we talked about religion in World affairs. we weren't forced to FOLLOW it, we just LEARNED about it

Exactly! That's what we did at my school- we learned all about Islam when we were studying the Crusades- but it's not like we were forced to follow it, you know?

I know that as long as the teachers or principals arent organizing it its ok to do whatever you want in terms of religion at my school. today they had a whole student organized thing for christians it was before school and no one had to go.
