I've been told.. Not to feel ashamed oveer... The scars that I'm hiding the blood I've been covering but.... I still wear bracelets... Still use makeup.... So... Maybe it's just being scared that someone found out but.. Isn't that shame in itself? And even if it's not.... Are shameful SI thoughts, even when nit regretful, not right? Should I not be ashamed? Why? I dot know... Thanks for reading.

You shouldn't ashamed as such, but it is alright for you not to want people to know. People react badly to things they don't understand and you may be simply scared of this. I know i am. Sometimes it is best to keep si hidden. Also ou can also cause concern in people if they know which you may not want. Hope i helped. :)

Cutting of course isn't something to be proud of, it's a fault. But we all have faults, and you shouldn't be ashamed of it. When you stop, wear your scars proudly, as a battle that you went through and won.

There is no rational justification for shame regarding self-harm. Everyone has coping methods; some better than others. Most of the shame, I believe, is the result of a lingering trace of the thoughts and feelings that drives one to self-harm in the first place. Scars are a physical manifestation of the pain - which, once it gains a concrete form, becomes even more distinct and thus powerful. The scars fundamentally carry that energy - as they was formed by it.

I have to go now. But that is a brief explanation of what I think.

Edit; originally I neglected to mention the effect of social perceptions - we are often directed to believe that self-harm is a shameful act, and self-harmers are subject to belittlement. That is certainly a cause for feelings of shame - but of course, just because the majority holds a view, doesn't make it the absolute truth.
