Has anyone every liked someone who is a bit younger than you?

When I went to secondary school (which is ages 11-16) I had a best friend, and our families were also good friends aswell. I started to get funny feelings for his sister (who is like 3 years younger than me).

I think it was because at the time, I really didn't get along with girls, and I got along with his sister, who had a nice personality and was good looking (I honestly never had any sexual feelings for her, just liked her as a person).

After a while me and my best friend just drifted apart, and I think his family were suspicious of me liking his sister.

I still live in the same town as him and his family, and often pass them in the street. We do say hi to each other, but it just feels very awkward (that might just be me).

I don't have feelings for her any more, but If I ever see her I do feel a little wierd. I'm 18 now and shes about 15 or 16 I guess, so technically i'm an adult and shes a child!! Maybe saying it like that makes it sound worse, but still.

Anyway, I just feel like some kind of perverted peadophile? Am I right to think this or am I just over-analysing things? Is it ok to think a younger girl is pretty and has a nice personality without fancying them?

What are your thoughts on this?

You're not a paedo or anything like that, don't worry. My girlfriend is 15, I just turned 18 and we've been together 8 months. Age doesn't matter when it comes to relationships as long as the age gap isn't too, well, big. A 12 year old and a 17 year old would be a bit too much, but 3 years isn't going to hurt. Its' perfectly alright to think that someone younger than you is good looking, or that they have a nice personality. Everyone feels different when it comes to age differences. Don't worry :)

I don't see anything wrong with at all, and you're definitely not a pedophile because of it. There's nothing wrong with thinking someone younger than you is attractive, so I wouldn't worry about it. You can't help who you are attracted too at times, and you don't always control who you have feelings for. So you haven't done anything wrong.

Lol.
People have 5-10 years of age diffrence between husband and wife, the man is always older than the woman. Does that make him something bad ? :D

Even if you did fancy her, I wouldn't consider you a pedophile (or a creep in any way). Three years is a very small age difference, and only the law condemns those relationships.

Age is just a number.

Tbh you sound like someone who does over analyze things but it's because of the situation with her brother and you drifting apart too. honestly don't worry the age gap is small.

I am kind of in the exact same place as you because I am 15 and one of my best friends (he lives in the place next to us) is 12 (he'll be 13 soon) and he's one of the most beautiful boys I've ever seen in my life. When I am around him I feel those butterflies
and sometimes I even wonder if I'm not falling in love with him but then I snap out of it and remember he is younger then me and to feel that way probably isn't right. As you can tell lol I am gay and he is very playful, very touchy, pees in front of me, says stuff that makes me wonder about him but between his age and my being totally shy, I'll probably never really find out but yea, I know exactly how you feel.

I mentioned all this to someone here at VT before and they told me "dude, how do you not appreciate art and beauty" and I guess they were right.
