Does anyone else here run cross country? I just got home from my third meet(ironically it was an invitational titled "Season Opener") and beat my personal best time from last year, 21:12, and ran a 21:00 5000m. I'm not that great but I'm hoping I can run under 20 minutes by the end of the season since this is my last year. I don't plan on running XC in college. I had a lot of fun at the meet though. My team's pretty fun cuz we only have like 20 people total on the team.

I'm a sprinter; can't run XC.
My Coach caught me running long distances (he showed-up on a saturday and cuaght me) and told me to stop...that I wasn't meant for long distances.
I kept sneaking behind his back doing it anyway...Next thing I know, I've got the shin splints...and they hurt like XX???!!
So, I'm "dancing with the one that brung me" (as Dad says)

I'm a sprinter too but I do the 400 and sometimes the 800. My coach convinced me to do XC at the end of freshman year.
Also I PR'd on Wednesday. 20:02

Yeah sprinter here too. I get sick running cross country, i can't pace myself right. Annoyingly its a regular thing they do for pe cos we have big grounds with about half of it in woods. I actually think its really bad to make kids do it. I'm really fit (I do about 3 hours sports a day including rowing and swimming) but I think it does me more harm than good.

Our school do it every year, I came 3rd about 2 years ago :P
but yeah, that's all I remember from them, I never minded running, it was just a pain because I have dodgy ankles and asthma >_>
I tend to be better at sprinting and getting it over and done with, than trying to run for a long time.
