A Facebook stalker who harassed a Sydney teenager with disturbing messages and pornographic images has been revealed as a 12-year-old girl.

The mother of the victim, also aged 12, reported the incident to the Australian Federal Police, fearing her daughter was being stalked by a paedophile, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

For two weeks the stalker subjected the girl, her friends and her mother with abusive messages over the social networking site.

"I will find ur (sic) girls," a message sent to the mother using the daughter's account read.

"F---ing give me your daughters — they love me and I love them," another said.

The stalker also used the daughter's account to gather personal information about her from her friends.

Police dropped the investigation after finding out the stalker was a 12-year-old.

Facebook states users should be 13 years or older but has no function to prevent younger children creating an account.

I noticed that the first time I read it, seems pretty strange lol.

I think it's a bit of a joke to be honest. Stupid girl probably didn't realise the kind of effect she was having on the family.
