can anyone think of good movies of books? Like I know Harry Potter books are WAY better than the movies, but can you think of any movies that are as good as the books?

Children of Men
I Am Legend
Flowers In The Attic
Memoirs of a Geisha (Book was way better, but still)
The Color Purple
Mommie Dearest
And plenty of S. king stuff.
Now, I don't know if you've seen these already. But they're some of my personal favorites.

I'm not into Harry Potter. In fact, I think it's pretty stupid. :P So I don't think we really have the same taste. But oh well.

I Am Legend

No. Just no. They completely changed the ending and made it suck. (Comparatively anyway.)

Yeah, but the movie was still better than I had expected. I was angry throughout the entire film, but was still pleased with it in a non comparitive sense. :P

Eragon was pretty decent. Harry potter is still enjoyable, even if it is changed somewhat.

Into the wild - If this is not a good movie/novel, then that's your opinion.

True. I find that's true for a lot of based-on-a-book movies. They're good, great even, but they just don't measure up to the books. Harry Potter is a prime example. The movies are amazing, but the books are just so much better.

How could I forget about this? I have the poster on my wall in my room. Jess, I highly recommend this one.

Alex, I can't read Harry Potter. :P

You know, I was like "Hmm... those are good book to films, but he forget one more. Bah! I will post it!"

Good novel to film recommendations, though.

A Series Of Unfortunate Events was done...alright compared to the series. It at least got some of the plot right. Even though they just mixed the 3 books together.

I rather like both the Scott Pilgrim movie and the comics (which I guess are books in the most technical sense, but it seems worth mentioning)

Oh, and Series of Unfortunate Events was actually quite good in my opinion

My Sister's Keeper the movie was WAY better. I hate the book's ending, it just wastes a story whereas the film's ending is more logical.

Loz. My mom was like 'Fuck that movie! It was stupid and I never want to see it again!' If you haven't noticed, she liked the book. :P

American Psycho.

The book is dark and violent. I love it. It's like my bible. Some of the most graphic depictions of violent torture you will ever get.

The movie is funnier than it is dark, but I still love it. I've actually seen this movie over 300 times I'm sure.

Hell, my avatar is Patrick Bateman. Anyone should know by now I'm a huge fan.

It by stephen king.

The only reason being, they actually took the time to make it a 2 part movie so they were able to get as much information from the book into the movie as possible. It was a really long book, however if anyone can manage a 1,000+ page book, I highly recommend it. However, they did have to cut out some stuff from the book as it was a television-aired movie, and not aired in the theater. However, it is still really good and I highly recommend it if you have the patience, as I believe the movie clocks in at just under 4 hours.

Edit - 700th pose ~.~

I think "The Lord of the Rings" was both an amazing series of books and films. It was a tall order 4 the director but he pulled it off extremely well.

The Shining. Movie better than the book imo. And another Stephen King novel, Misery. Great movie. Annie Wilkes is some scary shit :O

Also There Will Be Blood, AMAZING movie adapted from a novel called Oil.

And the Bourne films, No Country for Old Men, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
There's loads of great movie adaptations of books!
