Who deserves to win (this is for the United Kingdom by the way)?

WelshLad
April 15th, 2005, 05:38 PM
Labour suck. Britain is in such a bad state now, schools, diseased hospitals. The Tories are just wrong, they cause unemployment.
Liberal Democrats is the only way out, they wanna abolish fees for university.

But he supports Bush. We will end up getting blown up probably if blair stays in. I would chose lib dems. Although the monster raving looney party (Im sure it does actually exist) would be my choice.

WelshLad
April 16th, 2005, 06:01 PM
lol, ive heard some of them. cant remember what they were, hang on, *goes on google* ahh:
"THEY MISUNDERESTIMATED ME."
" I DO NOT BELIEVE WE'VE PUT A GUILTY... I MEAN INNOCENT PERSON TO DEATH IN THE STATE OF TEXAS."
"I THINK WE AGREE, THE PAST IS OVER."
"WE'RE GOING TO HAVE THE BEST-EDUCATED AMERICAN PEOPLE IN THE WORLD."

My vote goes for Blair because he is for the War on Terror. I do not live in the UK so I do not know about the economy. But I am pro Bush (meaning I agree with Cosmos...*gasp* this is a first) and can't wait to invade more known terrorist nations.

That is stupid. You invaded iraq. Did you find any weapons of mass destruction? No. Whats to say you wont invade another country, kill hundreds maybe thousands of innocent civilians and find nothing.

thats all very well saying you like blair coz he likes america, but frankly he's a shit leader. we have immigration problems, our hospitals are full of deadly diseases, unemployment is really high. We need the Liberal Decomcrats to sort it out, they're the only party that works

///James///
April 18th, 2005, 05:29 AM
humm.... not labour, i think a change of party would be nice, then there is teh torys, i dont really like michael howard, i think he is a great speaker and all, but he says too much and goes on and on with a few things.

i chose the lib dems simply cos i think the birdy in the logo is cute (no!), actually cos i think that they may be quiet, but they have good plans!

<-Dying_to_Live->

wow thats... incredable. colleges here are incredibly expensive, and parents start a fund before their kids are born just for the purpose of having enough money to pay for college. its crazy!

ayh you have it all worng in your countries come live in ireland and unviversity is free and you get a grant as well

Lol :D In Scotland we dont have to pay tuition fees either. Theres an organisation set up called the Students Awards Agency for Scotland. They will pay your tuition fees but after you graduate you have to pay them back a certain amount (i think its around £2000). But they only let you pay them back if you're earning over £10 000 a year ( i think they're moving that up to if you're earning at least £15 000 a year). Even then, you can pay it back really slowly, just bit by bit each month.
If you dont graduate, then you dont have to pay. We've also got grants/bursaries and interest free student loans. :D ....not that im trying to rub it in j/k hehe! You should just come to Scotland :D (or ireland - either way, we've both got brilliant accents :D ).

Anyway, back on topic, i dont think Tony Blair should be given another chance cos he's had too many. However i have a feeling that he's gonna get another one. . I dont know who i would vote for though....(except myself, when i run for 1st female prime minister of the 21st century hahaha!).

I like liberal democrats for they seem easier to trust.
But I don't think they are going to win, just get a lot more seats in parliament. But they may win in a few more election years.:D
So I suppose I want Labour to win but I still do not like Tony Blair. :?
But still the monster raving Looney party has a point.
http://www.omrlp.com/ :D
This is there Policy:
Loony Government will introduce a new system of currency to run alongside Sterling. It will involve a process based on bartering, using chickens.
Eggs will therefore become the equivalent of Loose Change. This will make buying breakfast in greasy spoon cafes much cheaper.
As chickens have a habit of breeding, it will be necessary to have a good reliable mechanism for controlling inflation. As such, we propose to use foxes, rather than taxes, to do this.

i'm going to assume the position of VT's Election Reporter, cos i seem to know everything on this election!!

at the time of the announcement of the election, the parliament stood like this:

Labour (Tony Blair) 409 MPs.

Conservatives (Michael Howard) 162 MPs.

Liberal Democrats (Charles Kennedy) 55.

Other parties 33 MPs. (These include SNP, Plaid Cymru, DUP, UUP, Sinn Fein ect)

So the House of Commons had a total of 659 MPs.

and looked like this:
http://static.sky.com/images/pictures/1286928.jpg
Red- Labour, Blue- Torys, Orange- Lib Dems, Grey Others
(image from sky news)

according to my prediction, i believe and know, that Lab will loose a few seats but wont loose power. However, the Torys are looking to loose some them selves, although there is talk of them closing the gap and thus winning the election.

the sets that the Torys and Labour are set to loose, are most likly going to be given to the Lib Dems, whos popularity have grown for their anti-war policy and the abolishment of college fees.

the lib dems however, could never get into power by them selves for the fact the are too small. when we see the time for them to get into power, will be when they are the offical opposition. which doesnt look likly at the present time.

tony blair will probley remain as PM, but you have to remember that over the war in iraq and all. Tony Blair is just a superier member of the Labour party. The other 408 MP's are mostly working on behalf of their local community who voted for them. And as far as i know, the labour MP's do a good job in their areas, and thus they wont loose power. So everyone may hate Tony Blair, but they like the other members. So Tony Blair will most likly get elected in Segefield (his area), and then remain as leader (unless he resignes). With that the adding numbers of Labour MP's, tony blair will just have to sit back and wait to see if the labour party get the majority. and if they do, he is back as PM.

now back to the studio......

lol!

james i like the coverage and i can tell you r regular watcher of the auld sky news too. i totally agree labour will win. tony blair is a great statesman, howard there is something i dont trust about him and kennedy i dont think will ever be pm, but i think he would do a good job.

ahh but forget your tony blair, john prescot and gordon brown. bertie, mary and brian are the winning team

///James///
May 4th, 2005, 11:13 AM
i dont want to go off topic, but WTF ARE YOU SAYING!! BIRTIE, MARY AND BRIAN SUCK COCK!

do you want me to start the reason why fianna fail suck? (retorical question)
1) GV Wright TD (Dublin North, where i am), ran a woman over. she currently is still unable to walk, but he gave a shitty apology and was let off scot-free

2) Ray Burke, biggest asshole! he just lied constantly, but he may be in jail, but fianna fail still is in power

3) Jim McDaid, remember the other week. Drink Driving. But Birtie is insisting him to stay

4) No national day of mourning for the Pope, but there was one for 9/11

5) The A&E crises (enough said)

and the list could continue.

get those 3 fat bastards out of government and get a socolist or left wing party in!!

*********************
back to britain, one day left. and according to the
BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/vote_2005/frontpage/4511267.stm) there are demands to lower the voting age to 16! That would be good, as the younger generation can have their say, as when they are 18, they may be already in college and they have old-folks making decisions for them, when most 16 y/os can them selevs!!!

It poll day tomorrow I think :)
What people opinions on the European Union? As it’s a key issue in the election. Lots of people where I live like UKIP (United Kingdom Independence Party).
Thanks for the information on the election Punk'd. :D

///James///
May 4th, 2005, 11:49 AM
no problem!

about UKIP (i usally say U-KIP!!), if they got enough of their way, i think that things for both the UK and Ireland and for France would be awkward!

see for me in ireland, i have to pay extra for p&p, and then convert currencys to buy something on the internet from england. if england pull out of the EU, things would be MUCH more awkard for us.

and then northern ireland, one half of the island would be in the EU, the other not. even if there was a free trade aggreement or shit, it would still casue problems. and similar problems in france (from the channel tunnel)

Robert Kilroy-Silkh MEP (ex UKIP Member, now leader of Varitas) is most likly to get in, cos he was a tv personality. i do feel that alot of his opinions are very true, but i think he says too much for his own good.

i'll have another election update this evening.

wat are you talking about fiana fail are good and have done real good for the country. i dont want to get into some of the things you mentioned above of course they were wrong ut you cant judge if a governments good or not on wat its members do outside of there job. also not getting a natioanl day of mourning for the pope was actually a good thing. how many people would have gone to mass? they just wanted the day off.
anyway fiana fail have done good stuff. take childrens allowance for example. ask your parents wat they got in childrens allowance from the rainbow collation, (fine gael, progressive democrats and labour) and see how much fiana fail boosted it. i could go on but i would be hear forever. anyway there good points outweigh the bad.
by the way robert kilroy-silk is an arogant and rude person. sorry rude is an understatement
