This is my drawing of a manga kitsune (fox) girl. I apologize for the lack of lighting and the crappy phone camera. (I don't have a scanner, but I guess it's better like this since my mistakes are more well concealed with bad camera work. Lol.)

1. Look at my name in the corner.

2. My photobucket username is brennaluvv87

Three advices I'd like to make:

1. No lined paper. At least not for any drawing that is not a school doodle. Not only it is annoying for the viewers, but it is also annoying for you, as those lines can be very distracting.

2. Don't copy - understand. Copying an existing drawing is not bad, as long as you do it with the idea of understanding the structure behind it - in short, you don't really copy the picture, but you actually rebuild it, trying to guess how the original artist did it and why. There are details in your picture that leave me with the strong feeling that you didn't actually attempt that.

3. Master your lines. A lot of your lines seem hesitant, and not as regular as they should. This is specially visible in the hair lines. You need to train yourself to draw straight lines that look straight, and curved ones that seem to follow a single, flowing curve.

Now, if you want to draw your own characters, I'd strongly suggest studying anatomy. Learn how to decompose the human body in simple shapes, and copy real-world humans in all kinds of positions. Don't try to go in a blatantly manga style - develop your own personal one as you progress.

Hope this helps!

1. Sorry, my mom won't let me use the computer paper 'cause it costs more. I'll try getting some from school next time.

2. I saw it on the computer, thought it was cute. So I closed the page and went upstairs to draw it. I didn't trace it or anything like that. I can't really come up with my own characters because I'm not very imaginative yet. I'm only 13. I'll try thinking up my own people next time. (:

3. Yes, I know that's a problem of mine, I have really shaky hands when I'm drawing/writing.

Thanks for your criticism! (:

I'm not very imaginative yet. I'm only 13.

Age does not, and has never inhibited imagination. Look at lots of different pictures- not just manga. All kinds of art, and real life as well, see the way that people do things, find influences, gather techniques, invent some of your own eventually, and create. We all have the ability to be creative, yet we must first open our minds and souls to new things, don't inhibit yourself. Get inspired.

I'm just saying that I'm not yet taking my drawing seriously so I don't really think about it that much. I have other things to worry about.

I like it. Kitsunes are cool.
I don't think I can tell you how to improve seeing as I can't draw with crap. XD

I guess that means I have no life then. Haha.

Cute.
