Is spooning gay?

I'm bi so it doesn't matter to me but my straight friend (doesn't know I'm bi yet) keeps telling me that he thinks it perfectly fine for straight guys to spoon. Let me know what you think.

I guess its a matter of being in public or not. Where I live, it would not be OK in public. And anyone attempting it in private without permission would run a terrible risk. Isnt that how it is everywhere? Your straight friend, if he is sincere, is running that risk.

Its not about being OK. In private with permission, there should be few limits. But people change their minds, they remember the past differently as time goes on.

I've heard of straight guys spooning before, so it can't be all that gay. My best friend, who's straight, didn't mind me cuddling with him. I'd guess that if the guys were close/good friends and confident in themselves, they really might not give a damn all that much. Besides, spooning/cuddling is fun!

But my brother used to spoon with me all the time, he used to cuddle next to me so much.
I hated it, but he would do playfully. It was awkward for me most of the time, but sometimes I didn't mind since it was just a nap together.
It shouldn't be labeled as gay since it's not sexual, but I think it is automatic for many people to view it that way.

I don't know why someone wouldn't consider cuddling sexual or rather intimate. Guys don't usually get that physically intimate with other guys.

I think that if one of the guys isn't straight then it would be kind of gay, and the other gay would more than likely feel kind of awkward. But if he says that he wouldn't then I guess there's nothing wrong with it.

i don't think it is necessarily gay if you are good friends as long as you don't turn it into some thing more. if you are good friends and you are both fine with it the what the heck. now i also agree with some of the other posts that say other people seeing it might construe it as gay. so it all depends and you have to make up you own mind.

It really depends on the specific situation.....

If it's in public and just friends getting together (especially more than 2) and you're playing video games or whatever (I've laid on top of my friends before) - not gay.

Sleepover, under the covers and arm around you? - At the very least - bi.

In any case, you'll know when it's actually happening - you'll just "know" which one it is.
