View Full Version : Saying goodbye

My grandad died today, I can't say i wasn't expecting it although somehow it did still shock me. After i found out after school, I walked to his house.. We had found out from the police and the door had to be knocked down in order to get to him so the police where still at the house. I stood outside his house, on the opposite side of the pavement for a while. The front curtains where closed, his body was still in that room in the chair where he always used to sit. Then the policeman came out the front door. I'd seen the same policeman earlier when he came to my house to inform us of the death. I didn't want him to recognise me so i walked away. I wish i'd stayed longer. I wish i'd stood there just looking at the house a little longer but i didn't.
I don't really know why I posted this here, i think that maybe by telling this story it'll help me to let go :S Sorry for this pointless post.

I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather Kathy. My uncle recently died suddenly, it hit us all quite hard. If you need to talk about anything you know where to find me

Thank you both of you :) I'm gonna try think posotivley about this. I know it sounds weird... thinking posotivley about a death but i'm sure he wouldn't want me to be sad. :) And i had him and lost him, i should be glad i ever had him at all :)

I'm sorry to for your loss Kathy, you always have people to talk to you. I completely understand where you're coming from, as each of my grandparents are gone.

I'm so sorry to hear about that kathy. I know how horrible it is to loose someone when you don't get the chance to say goodbye. My nan died suddenly last year. She was crossing the road and was hit by a lorry.
I'm glad you're taking a positive approach. That's hard for most people to do. I wish I had your attitude. I'm here if you ever need someone to talk to, just drop me a PM :hug3:
