"Poor planning, air strikes by coalition forces and a "climate of violence" have led to more than 100,000 extra deaths in Iraq, scientists claim" - BBC http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/3962969.stm
Although probably an over estimate, other sources have said 48,000 iraqi deaths as a result of this war. Yet, only over 2,500 American Soldiers have died. so far, the number of iraqi civilian casualties has exceeded that of the US soldier death count of Vietnam. I pose the question: is it worth it? although not american, all of these deaths have been caused by failed bombings by americans, or for americans. Had we never gone in, these innocent people would not be dead. Whether 100,000, or 50,000, these people never did anythng to deserve this.

Ah I have to educate somone else :sigh: first most of the deaths are from an insurgent blowing up civilians with a car bomb. Yes I disagree with how the war was conducted we should have secured the boarders. To bad those 48,000 deaths are mostly comprised of insurgents. All you have to do is take away his gun and he's a civilian.

Do i need education by you, Phantom? Really, I have heard you say enough about the topic to hear your opinion again. The numbers given are for civilain deaths. Has anyone taken the insurgents gun away? and besides, they are blowing up their own citizens to attack us. If we werent there, they wouldnt attack at all.

-How do you explain the many insidents where the terrorist would round up ppl and shoot them (no soldiers)?
-Or the mosque bombings?
-Or the ppl laying infostructure for private US companies
-or the oil field attacks?
Its not just us killing civilians, and we don't do it on purpose, the car bombers, and market bombers, and the........(insert many more) they aren't doning it to get us. They are killing innocent ppl with no expectaion of the explosion or bullet ever hurting a US (or other wise) soldier.
How about the 5000 iraqi police/security force (of Iraqis) killed?

"See http://www.gbn.org/ArticleDisplayServlet.srv?aid=2400&msp=1242 Here is an excerpt:":Along with other human rights organizations, The Documental Centre for Human Rights in Iraq has compiled documentation on over 600,000 civilian executions in Iraq. Human Rights Watch reports that in one operation alone, the Anfal, Saddam killed 100,000 Kurdish Iraqis. Another 500,000 are estimated to have died in Saddam's needless war with Iran. Coldly taken as a daily average for the 24 years of Saddam's reign, these numbers give us a horrifying picture of between 70 and 125 civilian deaths per day for every one of Saddam's 8,000-odd days in power"

Saddam: between 500,000 and 1,000,000 Iraqis killed (includes Kurds)
