Hey admins,

I'm having issues with my reputation. It's something I take very seriously and recently a negative rep brought me back down to 0. My problem is that I have two negative points that should not be there. One is regarding a thread titled "The Key". I received the negative rep after I wrote my opinion that someone else did not agree with. Should I be allowed to go down in reputation just because someone is not in agreement with a statement I made? Not to mention that I talked to this person and they agreed that they crossed the line and I didn't deserve the negative reputation. The other is obviously an error on the rep-giver's part, as in the comments section they cite me as a helpful poster to them. This should be a positive rep, but instead is a negative rep. Can I get any help regarding these issues?

Well probably an admin will read this as its in VT HQ, but if you feel you have received unfair -rep the way to appeal is to pm one of the admins, they will reverse it if they agree that it was unfair.

Admins can remove mistaken rep, and if the person who gave it agrees they shouldn't have I'd imagine it can be reversed.

However, receiving negative rep simply because someone disagrees with you is just part of life. Rep is someone's opinion, and if they think you're wrong sometimes they'll negative rep you.

More importantly, it's rep. It's really not that important.

PM an admin if the rep seemed unfair. Besides, it is just rep. It is of no importance.

Its hardly a restart when you've only made 8 posts. Rep takes a long time to build up and there are always going to be set backs along the way. Be patient and dont let it get to you.

I was building it successfully until it got knocked back down to 0. It's easier to say that it doesn't matter when you have a decent rating such as yourself. I think it matters quite a bit as it shows what other posters have thought of the quality of your advice.

It is not about the number of blocks, but the character of the post.

don't worry dude, i was at 0 rep a few months ago and now i'm back to this. i won't tell you rep isn't important because it does mean something to people. but it's not always going to be stable or an accurate reflection of your posts.
